Joe appleyard comes across as a bloke with a 13 year olds mental age from the heart of preston road. Probably still hangs around in "red hell" and hull daily mail took pity on him, the standards of rovers sports reporters plummets yearly

Content aside it's staggeringly poor in composition. It is fantastic though that just hours before their first trophy in 40 odd years we are all they can think of.
I have a lot of time for the local media correspondents who have a difficult job and I happen to think that the last Rovers correspondent was pretty good but this guy Appleyard seems to be totally insecure, what a pretentious and pathetic article that is, I can't believe any of us ever believe that to be the truth and a lot of fans I've spoken to hadn't even heard it as a rumour. Ive seen it on here a couple of times and it's been laughed out of court by the others on here. No one gave it any credence at all. Our Mail correspondent is passionate about our Club and indeed a long term fan but he doesn't need to stray into trying to make the news 'al a' a tabloid journo. Appleyard needs to learn that what goes round comes round and before you make such stupid claims, you should think just how long 'the accused' will remember them. He will be so pleased that we are even talking about it because quite frankly he's invented it to poke the 'Anthill' at a time when he should be busy relishing the weekend and celebrating the fact that the team he reports on is in a massive game, perhaps their biggest for years. Quite frankly I think it's hilarious!

Even some of the most gullible aren’t taking the rumour seriously as it’s been going for months.
Seems Appleyard has a little bit of an insecurity issue judging by his article.
He needs to learn how to use commas and inverted commas. Throws them around like confetti.
