Might just be me but after serving up the tripe they did the night before I’d be embarrassed to show my face anywhere around town after that let alone getting smashed in the local boozer.

Lomax needs to realise it isn’t a good look either. He’s supposed to be on the board and professional, not one of their mates.

I’m not on Instagram but I’d agree on the professionalism of certain board members

It’s not a first with Lomax, also Walker was with them but he went to Newton after, he at least had some sense.

Is this club really just a hobby/plaything for the board.

Hate to break it to you, but yes, it probably is.

RL isn't the Premier league, you don't go into it to make money, it's basically like owning a racehorse for them. A bit of respite from the real businesses they own, or involved with.

Having a drink with the lads will be a perk, that they can brag to their mates about.

And so you aim towards the sky,
And you'll rise high today,
Fly away, Far away,
Far from pain....

It was a leaving party for Jason Clark, wives, girlfriends and kids were also there - so this wasn’t a ‘lads on the lash’ night out. The only player I would consider to have had a few was Jason Clark himself. I saw no evidence of any ‘rift’ between the players, Dufty was there mingling with everyone Vaughan was there also (again mixing with everyone) but Vaughan left a little earlier.

Lomax generally organises one of these every year at the rams head, Lomax himself has always come across as a good guy to me, passionate about the club and RL in general.

Most companies like to get their employees together for a social, I don’t see why an RL team should be any different or why they should hide it.

Personally I think we are spending too much keyboard time looking for scapegoats. At the moment it's not surprising we are struggling; Williams is injured, Harrison suspended, Nicholson injured, McGuire and Makaele gone. But longer term I think there are a couple of important lessons to be learnt. Firstly we need to avoid bringing in journeyman players wherever possible. Sure you can get some real quality if you are lucky, but most of these guys tend to be late 20 to 30 + years of age. The sport for most of them is all about the salary and their age dictates that retirement income is uppermost in their minds, not winning silverware. Yes, they all say it's a lifelong ambition to play for Warrington, but that's only because we tend to pay well and sort out accommodation in the leafy suburbs.

The second issue is the squad player depth. We don't have many young players that can step up into the first team. It's improving because the club has finally understood that the youth system in both the Town and club is the way to go. It needs to be the prime source of new players into the team for the simple reasons that they are ambitious young kids with a loyalty to the club, and the desire and will to go the extra mile to play for us.

I am not a huge fan of "Powelly", but he seems a pretty competent and I like the fact that he is blunt and honest when he speaks. As Dita has mentioned before I think the solution to success is more about the right players and not so much the coach.

I was in favour of Powells appointment and I was quite happy that he came in and tried to change things as what we had before was clearly not working
I am sure that he didn’t expect it to be easy but I also don’t think that he really understood what a soap opera this club is sometimes.
Even with the benefit of hindsight I still didn’t expect the situation surrounding McGuire. It is quite a complex case and easy to see how that can create a rift. I am not sure that Powell was at Cas at the time of the Brett Ferres / Craig Huby situation but even that would have been a bit more clear cut in that most if not all would have realised that it was out of order.
If McGuire has been going round telling his mates that he didn’t say anything then it makes things a bit more grey.

So there looks to have been a clear the air / golf day / mickey up. I am fine with that. I don’t expect us to beat Saints or Wigan on current form but I hope that the evidence will be in the performances that we are turning the corner and that there is an eagerness to turn up for each other.

If there is no noticeable reaction (I hope there is) and an improvement in spirit and all the small detail effort areas then things could get quite messy over the next couple of weeks.

Not for me. They are elite professional sportsmen they shouldn’t be out there drinking in the middle of a season let alone when current performances and results have been embarrassing. And when, there’s so much scrutiny currently on the board as there is now, which Lomax who is pretty active on social media will be aware, it’s a silly move from him to go along with this. It gives a general impression that ‘we’re not bothered’ and kind of rubs peoples faces in it.

We’ll have to agree to disagree. Don’t get me wrong, we don’t want any of the players ‘doing a Westerman’ but I don’t think a few beers mid season is a problem as long as it isn’t taken too far. If it helps bring the club together a little all the better, though that wasn’t the reason for the get together.

I get it can rub people up the wrong way, but they aren’t robots and can’t be confined to quarters just because things aren’t going well. There were plenty of kids there on the off chance getting pictures with players etc, all good in my opinion.

I think if we're winning every week it's a different story but the evening after we'd just lost our 6th game out of the last 7 thus being embarrassed by the worst Leeds team ever, to then hear of some of our players and a board member out in the local pub drinking copious amounts of beer it comes across as a bit impolitic.
