Been told they're not in the plans for next year and now finding themselves front and centre due to injuries? We're also having, or choosing, to play Walters and Tindall who now have zero skin in the game for this season. Shades of Wire last season?
I think there is something in this. Some unhappy players. But he’s recruited a worse set than we had last year including a group who are not SL standard which is abysmal. No confidence in who we may sign in future.

So honest question, Tad. Who? The days are long gone when you could source a first rate coach from the NRL. Most assist coaches turn their nose up. It's easy getting rid (as we have proved) but it's very difficult to appoint someone who is not viewed as a gamble.
Completely get that it's hard to recruit the right quality coach (it's hard to get the players too) but other teams have managed to get those decisions right.
Yes the player are not good enough but if its not the coaches job to get the best out of what's available then I don't know what his job is. RS has failed to do that more times this season than he has. If he was the right coach then we'd see much better regardless of many more wins, regardless of injuries. But the Performances are amateur at best.

IF we are going to change coach then Paul Rowley is the man

He's obvious but not available. I love watching his Salford team, but many posters on here hanker for a return to steady as you go pressure football. Rowley is a world away from that, in fact he and Smith seem to share many of the same coaching beliefs. He is however, the one I'd be keeping an eye on.

As was levelled at Powell last season. I'm not arguing that this is the sole reason, or even the major reason (though it may be, who knows?), but if a significant number have been told they aren't part of the plan, and those same players are now thrust into the team due to injuries (Walters and Tindall are two that we know of) then that would account, at least in part, for the "can't be bothered" attitude that is so clearly demonstrated most weeks. As happened at Wire.

A) smith signed some of those players that aren’t good enough B) if professionals keep making the same basic errors, it’s likely the coaching input is causing this. Otherwise, when teams do well is that just players doing good things and the coach isn’t responsible. By your logic, what’s the point in a coach at all, if they are just passive beings who don’t influence stuff.
A) he has a budget mate, and it wasn’t big at all bc we are contracted up the the plums with overpaid / past it dead wood. What would you have had him do? B) come on. These players are mid twenties to early thirties you think a coach is responsible now for basic handling skills? Of course the coach had a big impact but this squad simply isn’t good enough, and is ravaged by injury again.
Some if you lot just look at results and react. I’m not saying RS as a coach is the Messiah but we need to make far better decisions with recruitment and retention than we have seen for much longer than his tenure.
