Despite the loss it was an excellent cup tie. I enjoyed it. Wigan regrouped well and were very good in the second half - that needs to be acknowledged. Even though we lost momentum in the second half I always thought we'd get a chance to win the game. If Harry Newman wants to realise his talent and become a marquee/ International/ NRL standard player he has to learn from today's humbling. That pass had to go (as did the one in the first half) and it didn't. He's young yes, but he's old enough to do the basics of the game. His ego is getting in the way of his talent at the moment.

dress it up how you want. leaders, lack of quality whatever.
a selfish player cost us a place in the next round.
it all boils down to that. wish I'd been a fly on the wall in the changing room

Though Newman bombed 6 points the team let in 18. Not fair to only critise him

If he was told about his mistake at half time by the coaching staff, as he should have been, then he should be dropped for ignoring the coaching staff.

Myler definitely told him he was in the wrong the first time, listen to and respect your teammates is another good lesson to learn.

“You are playing a game of football this afternoon but more than that you are playing for England, and more even than that, you are playing for right versus wrong. You will win because you have to win. Don’t forget that message from home. England expects every one of you to do his duty.”

Unfortunately for Harry that was the defining moment. Momentum shifts within games and good teams ( like Wigan) will always get on top of you at some point. The golden generation often got themselves in similar predicaments, but more often than not, at the moment of truth they were both ruthless and selfless. Harry needs to thank his lucky stars he's not having to face Peacock and Senior in the sheds. Big lesson for him today.

I’d also explain to the fans why we’re giving him a week to think about his mistakes, but then find reasons to give him credit in his first game back. #BeMoreTed…

It's not how much talent you've got, it's what you do with it that counts.

Newman was also at fault for two of the Wigan tries with a poor attempt on French and then attempting the intercept instead of focusing on Wardle. Great talent but needs to get over his own ego and focus on his performances.

Fun game that was on a knife edge - could easily have gone Leeds' way.

Let's have some perspective too on a player who has not long since turned 23 and missed nearly 2 years through bad injuries. Hes much to learn to fulfill his potential no doubt but more a cause for concern is the recruitment needed to add more players with similar impact on a game.

Main thing is that he doesn't walk away thinking he had a good game. Hopefully he's sufficiently self aware to know that but if not, he needs putting straight.
