Looks like we're not the only club needing a new coach. Lingard heading to Cas as assistant from next season! Didn't see that one coming.
It says all you need to know about the state of the championship when a head coach would rather go and be an assistant in SL.

Combining both roles until the end of the season, then Mark Moxon taking over at Batley.

Wish we'd got Lingard a year ago.

That could be a good appointment. Someone not hampered by history or cares a jot about the 90s/00s

And herein lies the problem, he also has little coaching experience, has none in the UK and has never set foot near the championship as a coach, player, water carrier or anything. So if it doesn’t work will he be described as a cheap option with little experience?

I agree but whatever we think, we'll be going for the cheap option. MD was the cheap option with most of those boxes ticked.

We've kind of done it before and that coaches stats were

P W D L %
2016–17 Bradford Bulls 20 14 0 6 70

Yes he has a brainfart in the playoffs but at least we made it to them? I think we'd kill for that kind of win/loss ratio now let alone making the play offs.

And we had a similar prima donna halfback he controlled and got the best out of.

Maybe Adamson could do something similar?

Failing that lets get Toovey back :) . I'd loved to have seen his reaction to some of these drubbings... He'd have been that incandescent he'd be visible from the Internation Space Station

A coach can only do so much. Whoever comes in now is inheriting a squad that is imbalanced, with a few decent players but also a lot of dross. Two poor halfbacks, no depth in the backline whatsoever, a poor set of props and most of our budget likely tied up in three ex-super league players who between them have already missed an alarmingly large number of games.

This season is a write off already, even if we do manage to sneak into the playoffs. Get someone decent in now and start planning for 2024 as a priority.

Adamson would have a network into players from down under that could come in useful. I think a new broom would be a good thing. He's an uncompromising character which might put noses out of joint and I think Nigel will want someone that he can control and who won't rock the boat. In summary I can't see it happening.

According to that article "The former forward made 72 appearances for the Rhinos between 2002 and 2024,"

He's doing well for a 50 year old. Still making appearances for Leeds in the future too!
