Even Sky commentary were stunned by the decision and clearly the RFL should know this needs to change. The 2nd try that was sent up as no try there was no definitive picture to say his hand was on the ball and so was disallowed, rather we just went back to benefit of the doubt.
Or apply the Yoda principle, score or score not, there is no on field try.
Cas were excellent when they went down to 12, came from behind despite the disadvantage and then they saw the game out. Great character from them tonight. They had more character and resolve for those 10 minute than we have shown in the last 2 seasons combined.
Talk about an error strewn game. Really really poor. Too many unforced errors - incorrect ptb, dropped balls, poor passes, late hits, offsides - by both sides. Currently 20-12 to Saints but at least 12 Saints points as a result of really basic errors by Cas. (10 mins ago it was 20-0 - just shows how things can change - again stupid errors played their part).
Very little classy about either team.
Led me to thinking how different things would be if we (or any team) were able to consistently minimize most of the basic errors. I'm not talking about 'forced errors' by good defence of the opposition, or by 'skill' by the attacking side.
Yes, you need that combined with go-forward and other attributes but when you dont respect the ball you're in trouble.
We've lost so many games narrowly and Id guess a lot of those would be down to points conceded as a result of basic errors.
Ive never played the game at anything but a basic level and I guess that more than a few of the players are not the brightest tools in the tool box so getting that concept over tl them could be challenging.
Had Cas respected the ball even slightly more they would have won. Saints were there for the taking. Maybe its just a reflection of the standard of SL.
