Sam Tomkins seemed a bit vocal around Prior's two cards assisting the referee....that's not like him.

Shame he didn't come up for interview after the final whistle.

I'm an RU man who loves both codes - have to say Cameron Smith looks like a gem.

Amazing win in the end.
Great spirit shown.
Personally I can’t tell from the footage if Prior deserved a red or not but agree with some others it looks like he may have hit the terrible part where your legs don’t get you to where you think they will.
Watching the Dwyer 360 turn and then chasing his own grubber to score I laughed out loud.
Personally I’d keep him around. Under smith we are going to play more expansive football and he will enjoy that. He is about at his peak and we don’t have many of them.
He has a downside, we all know that but I’ve rarely seen anyone play with more enthusiasm and however good O’Connor and Johnson become and it could be workmanlike, Neither can currently score the tries or create the opportunities that Dwyer can.
Looks like Smith is getting players to play to their strengths which is a great simple thing to get people onboard with you.

If Dwyer had not scored that try everyone would have been fuming. Very selfish and extremely risky play.

People would have been but the play had a fair chance of forcing a goal line drop out as a mitigant.

Danny Mags or Rob Burrow scores that try we would have hailed their greatness.
Welsby scores that try and Wilkin and Carney call for an immediate tight trouser transplant.
Poor old Brad can’t really win.

The difference is that Danny Mag or RB would only play that low percentage play occasionally, Dwyer plays it often and in the same match let alone using it as a moment of surprise or unpredictability.

I’d also say Danny, Kev or Rob (when in the halves) have more of a remit to put that play on if nothing else is on, as they’re in the halves. Twice in that game Dwyer makes a very risky instinctive call, when we’ve got options set up off of structure off our main playmaker, or even set for a winning drop goal. They both come off this time. But if they don’t you best believe Dwyer is getting a right earful from Sezer and then from Smith.

That is Dwyer in a microcosm, as much as he was part of the win, he so easily could have snatched defeat from the jaws of victory twice, and while I can give him credit for the kick chase try, the build up to sezers winner was pure dumb luck flinging the ball out the back.

Ultimately if the attack under smith is going to be as good as it looks like it could be, it’ll benefit from a more structured 9, imo.

Fair points and he looks set to leave anyway. It was a poor pass for the Sezer attempted drop goal. That last 20 minutes was cranked up to 11 on the randometer and it suited Dwyer down to the ground.

In defence of Dwyer, when he used to scoot out and go himself, no one ever went with him and backed him up. Noticed last few weeks bodies have pushed up in support, maybe coaching as highlighted this and RS has said if he goes himself back him up so he has options and not just a blind alley play we gave seen in the past. The reason we scored was because Hardaker followed him and sezar reset in back ground, support broken field play, lead to winning try.
It nay not work all the time, but if you play whats in front of you and push up it gives you a chance

Without doubt, he has improved under Smith and appears to be more selective, for want of a better word with the running, and as you say the support helps. I just don’t think you can look at either play and say it was the right choice and Dwyer’s part, and that, I believe is what’s lead to O’Connor jumping him and Rohan or Hetherington not offering a contract.

The push and following the ball carrier has been a noticeable change under smith, evident in a couple of the tries Leeming and Myler have scored this too. (Thinking the inside ball one against wire was it?)
