Its not a fullback we need, we have plenty of players that can cover that position. We need some size up front after the way Batley pushed us about in that 2nd half.

I’m reserving judgment on our pack till we’ve played a few games, I’d be focusing on our penalty count , set completion etc any pack can be made to look weak and incompetent when asked to defend repeat sets because of silly penalties especially on that ridiculous slope . I remember last year when we played Bradford at dewsbury we rolled them in the first 20 mins on the back of multiple penalties and their pack which is very old school looked battered, as soon as they cut out the penalties they got back into the game . It’s quite clear that Grix as opted for a mobile stamina based pack , it only back fires when certain players can’t do the basics ie playing the ball . Playing Batley at Batley is like a game within a game , playing the slope is a massive part of the tactics , we failed to do that and paid the price , let’s not be too critical after all they only finished us off after two men were sin binned , I’m confident just like last year after we lost to Oldham things will turn around.

Agreed but we're already two points down on last season. Batley was same old, same old. If championship players can't play the ball correctly what can you say? Then to give the ref one, nowt's changed. It's so frustrating. Lindley Club, Copper Dragon IPA 3.7% Mmm! :DRUNK:

Good fullback but why did we not sign Alex Walker. He was with us for the preseason.
We then sign Martin last minute who is a steady player. Seems a funny one.
Whitton gets overlooked, which again doesn't instill confidence in the lad . Tralist gets picked ahead of him.

Was obvious what was needed in off season yet we re-signed the entire ordinary pack..

I don't think you can really read too much into it. Clearly, more of a case of our own self- destruction. As my name might suggest, I don't get to may games however, for what I can deduce; 1. Looked crisp in attack, especially through the pivots 2. No idea why Joe Martin is playing. Liam Whitton has the potential to be a Matty Ashton of this division. He needs to be playing while WBH is fit 3. The pack does lack size per se but they are mobile. Most of the season is on a dry track and they will turn a lot of defences quickly. Hoping to see Gee soon as IMO he is the most prudent signing that we made. Would hope we can supplement with maybe a Sam Hewitt, Oli Roberts from Hudds. Would like to see more of Calcott now Knowles is gone for the season.

Have 3 very winnable games in a row now before Leigh at home. If you havent seen, Nene McDonald is far the superior player to Joey Leluia. The guy is a true Monster. Arundel will do very well to shut him down when we play Leigh.

Personally I don’t think we’ll be getting anyone in temporarily from Huddersfield till after they play Toulouse on the 12 th of February, it appears some of there squad are unvaccinated and won’t be able to travel due tote french’ covid legislation , so they’ll be waiting to see how that pans out with injuries etc . It’s certainly been a difficult opening with injuries etc , woodburn hall , worthington, gee , garside , knowles , looks like Moore is playing injured again , just hope Keyes doesn’t get banned for what looked an innocuous high tackle .
