Just got to say, congratulations to Catalans, well deserved winners of the league leaders shield. More importantly, they did it without the use of smoke and mirror tactics.
Best side in Super League, well done.

Yes congratulations to the Cats, nice to see a new name on the trophy & would be nice to see them contest the final. I still have the faintest of dreams that HKR could join them but I won’t be gambling my pension on it.once again we’ll done.
It was a brilliant way to win the League Leaders Shield and Sky should really have made more of that. The Shield should have been on parade before the game and they should have lifted it after the game for the publicity.
I'd love them to get to Old Trafford, it would make the sport seem that bit more colourful and vibrant if they did. The reaction of the fans at Newcastle shows the fans of other clubs would support them at OT if they made it, if enough of them could be persuaded to buy a ticket for their end. A nice £10 ticket offer on group on should be enough to get a fairly sizeable following for them.
But, I still have my doubts about them as a team. They were dominated by Saints for 70 minutes of that game, survived a few incredibly dodgy calls on Maloney in particular and whilst their spirit to come back was admirable, that really isn't going to be allowed to happen in a semi final or final. They'll have a home game against Wigan, Leeds, Cas or Hull KR to reach Old Trafford and it concerns me that they might lose that. It'd be a massive shame if they did that after the season they've had. Wigan are perhaps their best shot out of that bunch, but even they have it in them as their nilling of Cas showed recently. The current play off system is awful, it doesn't reward the team finishing top enough. Catalans could end up playing the form team out of the 6 in the play offs as they'll face a team who has built momentum to reach the play offs and then won their first game, so Catalans reward for top spot is a one off game with potentially the form team in Super League.

The old top 5 in the play offs was the fairest and most intense way and the sooner we get back to that the better

I agree with you but, probably as Saints will be hurting on jut how they managed to give them the game at the weekend. Surely, the total collapse in that game will have Saints on their mettle for the full 80 in their remaining games.
As for it meaning nothing. Well, Catalan have won the LLS, for the first time in their short history.
