Can you imagine a RL personality being given a knighthood in the UK? Won't ever happen, unless said personality played a couple of games of RU - in which case he'd be reported as a RU legend anyway with no reference to RL.
If Sinfield continues to serve the game for years to come then you'd hope he'd get the same recognition that his counterparts in other sports do. Of course if he's played a couple of seasons in the other code and kicked the winning goal in a World Cup final he's be knighted straight away no question, irrespective of how he's served his country / community.
Anyway, well done to Lowe he certainly has achieved lots on both sides of the world.
You make a good point about RL’s lack of recognition in the honours but, looking down the list, in terms of purely rugby union knighthoods, there haven’t been as many British players knighted as you think. Carl Aavold and Wavell Wakefield had political careers as well as rugby, Bill Beaumont, Peter Yarranton and George Rowland Hill were honoured as much for their admin careers as playing. Clive Woodward was a World Cup winning coach, Ian McGeechan had an extraordinary coaching career so you could argue Gareth Edwards is the only one knighted purely for on field greatness (and rightly so)
