But there isn’t a basis for thier decision making. It’s made up as they go along depending on who’s turn it is. The major problem is that refs are instructed to penalise innapropriate action on a ad hoc basis. One week offside another week scrums, head high tackles etc. This just adds to the inconsistency, then we have prima donnas who want to be seen and not heard. Sam Moa springs to mind, made a perfectly legal shoulder charge (at the time), the crowd oohed and ahed at the Sky replays whilst the injured player was being attended to. Ref put it on report and he was banned. Similar incidents went unreported because of the lack of Sky coverage!! Gareth Ellis at Leeds, Sky showed the alledged crusher tackle several times and he was banned but similar incidents not reported. It’s a bloody mish mash that just engenders ill feeling and mistrust and accusations of paranoia.
