Plenty have tried to tame him, all have failed. An ideal player for Toronto I would say, he would fit right in. His ill discipline would suit them.
He isn't a 'penalty machine' - he isn't usually on the pitch long enough to concede many!
He does have some of the attributes of a top player - he has an excellent physique, he's a fitness fanatic, and gets through a lot of work. (when on the pitch!) The major problem is that he just can't resist doing crazy, dangerous things. As an example, he was dismissed in the fifth minute of our late season Championship fixture at Batley, for a late, cheap shot on Tom Hemingway who, incidentally didn't play again last season. He got off lightly, with a seven match ban for that awful foul. In his second comeback game (the Championship Shield final at Featherstone) he was cited for a similar, late, off the ball challenge on a Featherstone youngster, and picked up his latest five match ban. That proves to me, that he is incapable of learning from his mistakes.
His career at Leigh includes:- 2015 - 3 suspensions, totalling 5 games; 2016 - 2 suspensions totalling 8 games; 2017 - 4 suspensions, totalling 12 games; (including a nine match ban increased to 4 months, on appeal) 2018 - 3 suspensions, totalling 13 games. He has missed, by my reckoning, 39 games in four seasons - including the increased ban in 2017.
So, many Leythers would say - please sign him. Of course, Danny ward could be just the right man to turn Acton's career around.
