If we get an injury to either Gelling or Gildart then we'll more than likely see Bateman drop in to cover. Whilst we've got a few different options in the back row, a couple of them (Lockers and Joel) have fitness question marks against them. It's not highly unlikely that at some point this year we'll be missing Joel, Lockers and Bateman from then pack.
A Sarginson type cover signing would have covered that area.
I'd expect Forsyth or Higginson to the wing (or Escare once Tomkins returns) with Burgess moving to centre. I can't see us having the room to bring in someone suitably experienced, even if such a player was available and willing to sign as a backup. Burgess has done well when he has played centre and has all the tools, particularly now that the emphasis for a centre tends to be on athleticism.
