When you consider many rate him as a winger yet he had to ask Radford to give him a chance on the wing so he could get some game time so the coaches dont always see whats in front of them. Fonua came as a wing yet cemented himself at right centre Tuimavave came as a centre and now is the first choice 6 see the point
Defence and passing for a start, the fact he has never played there in his life should be another reason, you can't just swap players positions because they have one attribute, Watts has good hands do we play him at 6?
Bit of a difference from moving from a back position to another like Fonua and Carlos (who have moved played those positions in the past) to moving from the wing to such a key position.

I dont think people realise what a difficult position hooker is to play. They have to do more work than anyone else on the pitch. To be a good hooker you need to be not just a decent passer, but a great passer. It's a game of inches, and a pass that has to be reached or stooped for can be the difference between winning the collision and getting a good ptb. Then you need to be a good defender. Not necessarily to Houghton standards, but you need to be one of the better defenders I'm the team. And those are the easy bits, because where hookers earn their money is in decision making. Along with the half backs they run the team, and in many ways they are even more influential.

All due respect but that is a ridiculous idea. A couple of things I will say on Naughton though is that some of the users on this Forum need to get off his back when he comes in after a lengthy period out of the team and doesn't have the best of games. I seem to remember this kind of thing happening with Shaul a couple of years back and we all know how that turned out. Any fan with any sense who went to the Salford game can see that this lad has talent, but in my opinion he just needs a run of two or three games in the team wherever Radford decides to play him before we start casting doubt on him. Even Wilf in his Dentist Diary has changed his mind on Naughton more times than Lady Gaga changes her wigs. The other point I'd like to make his I see a lot of comments on who is the best player at 6 and yet the cut out pass of Naughton's at Salford and the turn and inside pass he delivered in the home game against Huddersfield after catching the ball from behind were as good as any passes I've seen from any stand-off all season. So while playing at 9 is a crazy idea, 6 is not. Sometimes the things in life that your looking for are already under your nose.

Houghtons 1000+ tackles this year suggests that you do...or it certainly helps. Suggesting a winger transfers to hooker because he is quick and is the correct build is quite ridiculous.

I've been watching Hull for 16 years and in that time we have had some very good hookers, I think Houghton over the last few months as surpassed Swain for me personally and hope this carries on for many seasons yet. But when his time does draw to an end we definitely need a specialised hooker to replace him and Naughton is certainly not that and never will be imo. Although I expect Naughton to be a very good try scorer on our wing for many years. At the minute Houghton as become irreplaceable however and we need to hope he stays injury free. As we saw at St Helens our team have no back up and the fact just about every player stepped in and took his job from the play the ball showed that, some more successfully than others too I must add!

Yes but Houghton does what no other hooker does and plays the full 80
