Isn't his current contract one that was done under the approval of Radford/Tony/Pearson, if they saw the potential then and just because he hasn't had any opportunity to play why does that change things regarding a relatively small amount of money? As I've said before, we haven't had a junior rank player get to become a regular first team player since the end of 2013. Where does the fault lie, exactly why are we signing other teams junior players?
No fault and in fact since 2013 lots of youth players have made they debuts and played a few games, Abdul and Logan must have played a few games, they aren't quite ready to play everyweek and we have done well with injuries.
The best sides do what we are doing, sign others young players from other clubs to complement the squad and youth system, that's all we are doing, no big dramas at all.
Logan and Adbul for sure have some appearances but wasn't Adbul a stop gap and then it seemed he was either overweight or just gone off the boil or out of favour/no place for him? But as I said before and without it being this massive 'negative', I'm concerned that we have had this big gap between break through players coming from the youth set up that we heavily invested in. are the players just not good enough and if so why is that? Where is the next one coming from or are we resigned to signing players from other teams of a similar age to our juniors. Whilst I understand that that happens (signing of players from outside) that we haven't really had a breakthrough player for sometime and losing some quality players for the sake of a couple of grand I would say that is more than a tad concerning.

I'll say it again, they are good enough, or certainly will be long term, but they aren't as good as the players we have in the first 17, if we have injuries they will come in, not sure why it is so hard to understand.
Players aged 20 just aren't ready to play regularly and apart from the odd exception in SL, this goes right across SL and the NRL.
Pearson took over 4 years ago, the youth was poor when he did so there was always going to be a slight gap, those players were 16 and are starting to come through.

Agree about the injury thing, our players have been very lucky. In past years we've had ten players out and have been forced to play kids out of desperation. I am hoping that as we near the serious end of the season that some young players can step up and give the veterans a rest. That seems to be how Leeds and Wigan do it, in a controlled manner.

Also in the past we seemed to have one superstar youngster like Hall, Lyne or Lee and not much else and when these players didn't make it, we have nothing else.
Now we have lots of players coming through, some won't make it, but we have enough quality to make sure that some of them do.

I'd keep Leon Pryce but offer him a player/coach deal. Think he's got a lot to offer he club and squad, even if it's not as a regular signing.
Feka I can see staying on the staff but playing in a lower tier club.
Michaels and Yeamo may not be decided until the end of the season, both have done very well but with our three signings for 2017 all being three quarters, I can see both leaving.
Abdull and HTW should be signed up for 2 years each, with a loan spell to a Championship/lower level SL side for the first 3 months minimum.
Think Dean is pretty much nailed on to join Toronto?

If we are not signing any more new players (and in particular any more quota players) then we don't need to release Michaels as we don't need his quota spot for anyone else.
Of course we may need to release him for cap reasons in which case we will have a spare quota spot but won't be able to recruit anyone to fill it.
I presume we will need to release some players in order to afford the new signings.
