It was almost certainly in their contracts that they would be released for international duty. Fonua was also called up but the club agreed that he would stay here.
Players who are in consideration for international call up nearly always have a clause in their contacts to allow them to play. The choice is not signing current internationals or accept that you'll lose them for a few games maximum. I know which I prefer.

I understand what your saying and agree, but still doesnt mean its not stupid, why would any hull fan think its a good idea, I dont get it

I'm trying not to, as I'm big fans of both players, but I can't help but feel a bit disappointed by the players, this is the biggest game of the year and as soon as the draw was made, they should have cancelled their flights to play in this game.
Can't blame Hull as it might have been the only way they signed for us.
Honestly can't understand how anyone would be disappointed in the players. Surely every player would jump at the chance to represent their country? Seems like a no-brainer to me.
