Last season wasn't terribe, had done real plus points with some excellent wins, too many injuries to key players in the 8's, but that gave gametime to fringe and young players and that has helped us this season.
Pearson and Radford have and are building something exciting and deserve the praise and backing of supporters. I still think when appointed he should have had a Kear type figure working with him.

The fans have suffered whilst the players have not been good enough. Be it Gentle Radford or Agar. I don't understand why some think that we've somehow had a team in the last 10 years that, just with the addition of 'a good coach', could have consistently challenged Leeds Wigan and Saints with the teams they have had in the corresponding period. We've been absolutely nowhere near in terms of playing strength. Nowhere near.
In the last 2 seasons we've been improving gradually in that respect. And other teams have lost some of their iconic players. In the same way that it wasn't particularly the coach's fault that we have struggled it's not all about coaching genius now we're better. It's about playing quality and particularly this year the depth to that quality. If Bennett came over he wouldn't be able to coach West Hull to the SL title. It doesn't mean Bennett is a bad coach - it means West Hull's players aren't god enough to win it.
Pearson and Radford and Tony have finally begun to build a competitive squad. For that they deserve credit. But it's the quality of the players that has the main influence. Nothing else.

Fair enough Dave, but I can honestly say, that was my worst season watching Hull for as far back as I can remember, enjoyed very little of it, boring, predictable rugby,7 dead rubbers at the end of the season, was really really poor imo. Think its easier to look back now and say it wasn't so bad, now that we are going well and playing some decent rugby.

3 months pre season and 4-5 days a week coaching the team throughout the season tells me, your wrong. Coach is the most important member of a squad, We aint talking about coaching amateur players, completely pointless comparison, although, give bennet 3 months pre season with west hull, and a season coaching them, I'm pretty sure west hull would have pretty fine season. Onwards and upwards for Radford and the boys, I'm enjoying the Rugby again, week in week out, win or lose. That's all you can ask imo

There's plenty of professional evidence. McDermott at Leeds being a prime example. Poor record at London, won all sorts at Leeds when the top players were in their prime, and near the bottom again now they've left. I reckon he probably coaches 4-5 days a week as well. The Coach is the final 10-15% but the standard of the players are the main force. Always have been and always will be.

If we was talking football, I'd tend to agree, but Rugby League, no chance. As for McDermott, looks like hes got Leeds playing decent rugby to me from the games ive seen this season, mammoth injuries aint helped, scored some of the best tries this season Friday night against saints. Think they've left to much to do to turn their season around, but by any stretch of the imagination are their a done force. Thought Leeds played better than we have in any game this season Friday night, was unlucky to lose
