As others have said, Cooke's departure knackered us, but it was 9 years ago and let's face it he is the most influential player in the city of the last decade, winning us a trophy and helping us to a Grand a Final, then keeping Rovers in SL. Seems to have turned his life around, and we'll never know how much the club played a role in him going, so pointless bearing a grudge. I wish him well, but it's not like Doncaster's stats are aspirational, so think we're better off apart. Time to put the "Judas" nonsense to bed and let him get on with his life.

Good post. I agree, it's his recent track record why I'd steer clear, not any of the other stuff.

What does that mean? Doncaster fans don't demand any particular style of play other than commitment.
I still believe Cooke will be a top manager somewhere, it's less than 12 months since he got the Divisional Coach of the year and got us to our highest place for 15 years. This year a number of mistakes were made (recruitment and preseason training seem to be the big two for me) and this has snowballed into the mess we're in now. It is certainly not the fault of one person, but in this game that is usually where to buck stops. It had gone to far for him to rectify it and he and the club knew it had to change. He will undoubtedly not make those mistakes again in his career and will be the better for it. Personally I think he needs to go and be an assistant somewhere for a few years.
He has left the club with the best wishes of the Dons fans and heap full of praise.
