Was interesting listening to FC Live last Sunday. When Leon went off Ellis stated its time for Rankin to step up and show what he can do. Or words to that effect. Basically implying this was his chance. From what I've read and seen of that match he didn't really do that. Just my thoughts on how to interpret Ellis' words buty I'd say Rankin has been told to up his game and despite the passion and desire he is not cutting it with the coaching staff. Passion and desitre and "getting it" only take you so far. Lets face it if any of us on here had a chance to play first team for Hull FC we'd have passion and desire and "get it" but we wouldn't last long.

Rankin is never a half back. Not a bad FB - better in attack than shaul but shaul is excellent under teh high ball and his defensive positioning is better than rankin. It seems we've moved on and rankin going home after this season

He was never any good anyway, just that weve been so used to dross in the halfs for years that even someone slightly better than that looks like a world beater to some

I wouldn't put it quite as harsh as that, but in essence that is correct.
Great enthusiasm, but not quite good enough to be a halfback.

Hudds have a pretty big back line ans 2nd rowers,Radford may be wary of them running at Micheals so a centre pairing of Yeaman and Talona may be a good move.
