I'm shocked.

SaintsFan wrote:She actually introduced benefits during her period in power and the right to buy was genius: it enabled people who had lived in their council houses for yonks to actually own what they had almost paid for anyway in rent at a further discount price. The take up was substantial. People take pride in what they own.

She presided over the destruction of our manufacturing sector - a deliberate policy to weaken the larger Unions - which threw thousands onto benefits who had previously worked all their lives. She then shifted vast numbers onto disability benefit on order to massage the unemployment figures. We are still dealing with the consequences of these policies today.

She flogged off the social housing stock at prices way below the going rate, and forbade the reinvestment of this cash into new social housing. The flood of new houseowners and the constant push of the ideal of owning your own property, coupled with deregulation of banks and lenders, led directly to runaway house price inflation and all the subsequent problems in the housing market. Again, we are still dealing with these issues today - and not least the wholly inadequate social housing stock.

And that's without even touching on her ideology driven underinvestment in schools and hospitals.

Hold on to me baby, his bony hands will do you no harm
It said in the cards, we lost our souls to the Nameless One

Because she was a horrible mean spirited lady who presided over massive corruption, glad-handed some of the worst people in history, systematically destroyed parts of her own country and pushed a greedy selfish ideology which is the root cause of most of our problems today.

No. I'm fascinated by religions but am baffled as to how intelligent people can align themselves with them. I like metaphors, though.

Now made Top 40, currently at 39 and climbing fast. Do think it is too short though to make official chart. Is anyone aware of rules?

Move on, nothing to read here.

What? You think our manufacturing sector was thriving in the 1970s? What were you on back then?

So she forced people to buy their longstanding rented houses did she?

That was Gordon Brown.

Gordon Brown did the same thing ('no boom or bust under New Labour' - ha!). Is he evil too?

Quote:Again, we are still dealing with these issues today - and not least the wholly inadequate social housing stock.

Again I say, Labour had 13 years in which to correct this. However, they did not. Therefore, any inadequate social housing stock has nothing to do with Thatcher. She left office 23 years ago.

Not to make it personal but you really are the original Thatchers child. Had you been a child in 1930's Berlin what would your future be now?

Apologist for Hitler?
