The Rugby Football League are in the process of reviewing the video that you are referring to. We do not condone behaviour of this nature and have contacted the player’s employer, Hull F.C., who have confirmed that they are dealing with the incident under their club rules.

He's fully entitled to his views on the islands, whatever they are ... but beyond that it's nothing to do with him i.e. his position doesn't change a thing.

Yeah but look at it this way, his other beliefs are not rooted in logic either ... and they got him the top job in a whole system not rooted in logic.

Whoops, that's religion ... sorry.

Papal influence down the ages has waned from what it used to be by a very large degree. I did A level History years ago and the European history taught was dominated by the conflicts between the Papacy and European rulers such as Otto 1 of the Holy Roman Empire.

When you learn a bit of history from this time it soon becomes apparent the position of the Pope was more of a ruler than any kind of prophet.

These days while he doesn't rule in that sense it doesn't mean the Pope doesn't have any influence. You just watch if he says anything on the Falklands now how much it gets reported or is used as propaganda.

Whilst I wouldn't argue that anything said would of course be newsworthy, I still don't feel that ultimately it will make any difference to the status of the island. Personally, I feel that it is time for Argentina to accept the situation ... Will it? Probably not.

He is now spiritual leader of millions of Argie catholics and they take this stuff very seriously. If he pronounced that the Falklands should be left alone then his views would carry a whole lot of weight with a large proportion of the Argentinian population. Of course I wouldn't expect him to become at all involved - but to say that his views- if he expressed them - wouldn't be very significant indeed is clearly not right. They would.

The Papal Army was finally reduced to nothing but the Swiss Guard, essentially bodyguards, in 1970. The idea that the Pope is a non-military leader is only three years older than me.

That would be a 'blessing'.

Me neither however newsworthy it may be if he did.
