Thought we done well to come back yesterday. Huge bit of luck with Diame going off, he's a monster.

Is it wrong for a tennis player to celebrate at wimbledon when he knocks out Andy Murray? Could that not be seen as goading fans?

I don't care if football fans are rougher, that is not an excuse. They should still be expected not to resort to fookin violence when they have their precious feelings hurt. It's only sport! So no, Rio didn't have it coming to him, and neither did Rooney, and neither does any player who gets harmed by fans for having the audacity to beat their opposition.

It feels like football is getting worse again for this. The FA really need to get a lid on it.

It's men being men unfortunately. I love goal celebrations because it's a rare opportunity to see a footballer express how much a goal can mean. Seeing opposition granny boffers, thugs and rapists celebrate are tough but it's part of the game and as you can see in the NFL, take it away and the game loses some magic.

So how do you propose the FA "gets a lid on it"?

Comparing football to tennis is moronic. There is a widespread history of violence in football. The violent atmosphere is often present, but clearly kept in check because of vigilant policing and the knowledge that most violent acts will be caught on CCTV and charges made.

I think there's very little that can be done by the FA. But stopping players from deliberately inciting hostile crowds is the easiest way of making sure incidents are cut to a minimum.

Can't stand him as a player but he's never struck me as a proper pr*ck, so I was pretty happy for him when he scored, despite wanting him off a few minutes after he came on.

As I said before, I think the turning point in the game was Diame coming off. He was in Allen's face all game and it really restricted our ability to pass the ball forward. He covers so much ground at such an intensity, he could be lethal in the right side. The right type of manager could easily turn him into an Essien type of 'engine', if you will, he's got everything physically whilst he didn't seem too shabby a player yesterday either.

Agree re Diame, looks a beast, can't think who might want a player like that, sounds a bad tear.

I've got to admit, I'm too busy watching my team to even notice what any of the opponents do, but he's been widely credited with changing the game against us a couple of weeks ago. In the first half we were totally on top, it was a joke we only went in 1-0 up. He came on at half time, we didn't deal, and lost 3-1.

I think Cole not celebrating is totally down to him showing respect to West Ham. Cole's career desperately needs every positive he can muster, so his goal would have been more wanted than anyone else's, but even despite that he chose to hold his celebration.

Cole always came across as a pretty good guy who loves football, just very dim.

It's not moronic. Expecting fans to behave is not moronic. You're blaming the victim. Don't. Advise them by all means, but this situation needs tackling. What I've seen is many fans saying rio deserved it. Well no he didn't. It's just a failing of football at the moment that there are so many morons who can't behave in a civilised fashion and have to act like children. I acknowledged there is a history of this. That's why I used the word "again". We do not want a return to the dark ages, so the FA needs to get harsh.

I've had rugby players gesture right in front of me. One the middle finger, one a more obscene gesture. At no point were any fans I could see frothing at the mouth and fighting themselves from running on the pitch and no missiles were thrown. Stop making excuses for dick heads.

Liverpool were not supposed to score yesterday were you? No strikers and your best player out? Can't understand footie sometimes but you certainly earned the win!

In the point I was making about the two Manchester clubs, the above is irrelevant, but if you want me to go ahead and say it to counterbalance your insecurity about having to bring us in to the discussion at every opportunity mate, then yes, Liverpool have their own element of moronic fans too. As does most of the teams in world football.
