I didn't travel today but our lads aren't happy with the ref. apparently chalked off 2/3 tries for us. We travelled with 6/7 missing so not a bad result for us really. I went to watch Ulverston Vs Heysham which finished (I think) 32-24 to Heysham.
Looks like West Bank also failed to raise a side. Just read somewhere the Marie's game was off because ref deemed the pitch unfit.
Yer west bank gave us (Wild Boars) the game about an hour before kick off, saying a few lads let them down on the day, bit fustrating as we thought we seen the back of this after playing in lower divisions for the last few years but let's hope things improve.
Would of been a tough game for us aswell as we had the NWC bowl final on wednesday and their was a few sore bodies, o well on to next week which should be a great game only downfall is we have a st helens cup game on thursday so thats another short turn around for us.
I went the Sharlston game but what I have been told is we had 36 penaltys against us v Hindpool but was cruising at 42-16 with 20mins left when we had one sent off then another sin-binned, not sure how we managed to leak so many points late on!!!!
I watched the hindpool bank quay game. The ref was very poor, couldnt keep up with play and shouldn't be a ref. Bank quay were given a few decisions with lead to a try (knock on near the line). bank quay seem to turn to bully tactics which seemed to work as hindpool went missing hense the 42-26 score line at one point. But hindpool seemed to dig in & pull there socks up. I believe the sin bin & sending off was correct but way to late in my eyes as it should have happened a lot earlier. (but think ref was a little scared of the bank quay team). Hindpool were very unlucky not to get the win.
Blackbrook A 54-4 Bamber Bridge Cadishead Rhinos 10-42 Bank Quay Bulls A Heysham Atoms 24-0 Widnes St Marie's A Higginshaw 20-28 Ulverston Hindpool Tigers 38-10 St Helens Wildboars
The results from the weekend
We (ulverston) played higginshaw was a tough game and they will surprise alot of teams it's a hard pitch to play on very small pitch with the the big forward pack they have. Good luck for rest of the year
We (BQB) played some good stuff at times v Cadishead went a bit scrappy as they tried to drag us down but kept our discipline.
Bit of a shock result the Bamber Bridge one as I thought they would be up there and competitive I know Blackbrook had assured the league they weren't playing their first team in this when they asked to postpone the first team game with us....makes you wonder!!
"We (BQB) played some good stuff at times v Cadishead went a bit scrappy as they tried to drag us down but kept our discipline."
Kept your discipline (at times maybe) am sure the ref warned your team 7 times for cheap shots & high tackles. (but ah s**t happens) also believe I heard in pub that a few FIRST teamers had a run out.
All in all good game at times should be tasty at your place.
