Are you dead set on curry?

This place is literally just over the road from the Leisure Centre

http://www.buffetatbradford.com/

Very tasty food at an extremely decent price

We could do with a bit of scran before the game and was wondering if there were any good buffet style curry houses in the area of the hotel that would be serving at around half 3 / 4.

Any suggestions?

We are then having a night on the tiles in Bradford for the first time! Wish us luck!

There are a few ways to do this, I would say it depends on whether you want to finish up at the top of town at the New Beehive (an experience; a vintage gas-lit pub full of character and with some characters in it) which happens to be almost next to the Westgate, a tiny cheap and cheerful formica table curry house with basic food of epic and consistent standard - my personal favourite - can't go wrog with mixed starters and a chicken masala with tandoori rotis to die for.

Or, you could finish at the Fighting Cock, to the west of the centre, and walk up the hill to the excellent Punjab, a much more upmarket place, and featuring the wonderful Chapple Kebab.
I haven't been for a while so can't confirm if the Cock and Bottle is open at the moment but if it is, the interior is a true gem and worth a visit. Would suggest a taxi there. Then make your way downhill via North St to the excellent Corn Dolly. A few hundred yards down Bolton Rd is the Ring Of Bells if you need an extra or walk straight to the Shoulder of Mutton in the centre.

Then it's up Piccadilly and onto North Parade to the new and brilliant bier cafe, The Sparrow
Then make your way to the New Beehive. If going on to the Fighting Cock from there, it's probably worth a taxi as the taxi office is just next to the Westgate

I'm new to this thread so don't know if it's been recommended already but Bharat in Great Horton is always worth a try. Ive been going there for years and even though newer restaurants have opened, this is still by far my favourite.

I'd agree, but it's out of the city centre and a little bit more upmarket (expensive) than either the punjab or the Westgate.
If your'e willing to come out of the centre, up Leeds Road, above Akbars Cafe and the new fire station is Mughal's. Well worth trying.

Some scientists claim that hydrogen, because it is so plentiful, is the basic building block of the universe. I dispute that. I say there is more stupidity than hydrogen, and that is the basic building block of the universe.

You haven't been out in Bradford for sometime FA. The Cock and Bottle or the Ring O'Bells have both been shut for about 3 years!

The restrictions on his ASBO are quite severe.

It's not that, my drinking time is strictly rationed and when I can go boozing at a pub it will invariably be the Fighting Cock. Also regularly call in at t'Sparrow but that's usually a lunch or shortish visit, not been there on a full sesh yet. {note to self} Tend to pay on-the-way-home occasional visits

I did say that I didn't know if the C&B was currently open and that's because it keeps opening and closing. Last couple of times I made a point of a trip to it, it was closed, but they are few and far between, and it could well have reopened, with the crazy vicar, or someone.

It's a shame whenever it's shut. It truly is a wonderful old place. But that, I'm ashamed to say, is probably a big part of the problem of unique gems like the Cock & Bottle. We love them and think they should be there forever - but unless we patronise them regularly it is no surprise if they can't make ends meet.

As for the Ring of Bells - personally I'd crack on straight to the Shoulder of Mutton anyway and bypass it even if it was open!

I'm sure I heard somewhere that cock and bottle would reopen as a cafe, this would be better than most alternative uses as it would allow the interior to be open to the public. A pub would be preferable, of course.

I hope Lefty has a good time in Bradford!
