Gonna be a hard game for Chelsea tonight. Their defence has been suspect all season, Napoli have probably the best striker in the world at the moment, I can't see Chelsea keeping a clean sheet. Saying that, AVB's Porto played perfect European tactics last year in the Europa League, if he can set Chelsea up like he did his Porto side, he may sneak something away from home, but it'll be a tough game, no doubt.

What are the odds on a Cavani hat-trick tonight?

He is mate. They're similar in terms of ability, but he's much bigger, quicker and stronger. Would make a cracking partnership. I wish...

How old is he now, 25, 26? You can't imagine him staying at Napoli for the duration of his contract.

80/1 with Paddy Power. Got be worth a £1.

I'm looking forward to watching this game. Napoli have won their last two and demolished Fiorentina last week so they'll be up for this. I think there will be lots of goals. Might have a few quid on 3-2 EW.

You never know. Not too sure what implications this FFP stuff has had, but surely if it's done properly, we won't be seeing too many £40m bids being chucked around.

Dita's Slot Meter wrote:One of England's best managers??.....Took over from probably the most unpopular England manager of all time, never had to qualify for a major championship, had home advantage for his only tournament, Venables was in a no-lose situation.

Despite all this, during that tournament he conjured 2 good displays from 5, was lucky to make the semis, luck went against him, and that was that.

He then, cleverly, got out before he would have been exposed as being no better than any of his contemporaries....Its a trait he has displayed several times and one which obviously keeps him in the media's favour.

Personally, he was no better than Hoddle and inferior to Erikkson.

How dare you speak so much sense, Dita's.

Venables....the "emporer's new clothes" of football management.
IIRC, part of the reason Maradona left Barcelona, was that he knew Venables was coming, and he didn't rate him (Venables).

Since the very over-rated England performances of Euro 96 (V Swiss, crap....v Scots, fortunate....v Holland, fantastic.....v Spain, crap, (and the Spannish were 'burgled') and v Germany, wasteful
5 games is hardly a ringing endorsement of success.

In the last 16 years, El Tel has stolen a living in management/punditry.

One common denominator, though
Keegan, Venables, Redknapp....all 3 always good for a quote for the media, so the media tend to give them "a good press".

Counteract this with
Taylor, Hoddle and Sven, who (imo) all were a little "prickly" with the media, so the media gave them a hard time. You could possibly include Robson with this trio.

Neither glass half full or empty. Just a realist.
