Not really, I thought we went okay tonight, we were much more solid and it was actually more like a good old fashioned game of rugby.

Second half we were good, kick chase was excellent and Dobson had us very well organised. Bit thick on a couple of plays, Lovegrove made an excellent run down the blind side but then failed to pass (although Fox and Webster could have helped him out by losing their markers) and then Fox made a great break on the sixth but just chose to run into the cover tackler.

We're a confidence team, we've had an indifferent start to the season and we've not got it fully back yet. Home tie in the next round and who knows?

Who is this? Where was he? Is he an imposter? You should have challenged him.

If there is no struggle, there is no progress. Those who profess to favor freedom, and yet depreciate agitation, are men who want crops without plowing up the ground. They want rain without thunder and lightning. They want the ocean without the awful roar of its many waters. This struggle may be a moral one; or it may be a physical one; or it may be both moral and physical; but it must be a struggle.

In short, one of the higher placed sides would have won tonight. Salford bombed a couple of early chances. On the plus side, i thought they where far better than Bradford on the whole yet we nilled them. Only have to go back a couple of weeks and with the possession they had for a long spell we would have capitulated and had a score against us, so obviously an improvement.
The next round is 10 weeks away, anything can happen between now and then, lets just hope the draw is favourable, Widnes at home would be nice. :D
Back to the league a week on Monday, Wigan will be a sterner test, but with the return of Newton not far away, i think/hope we can start to turn the corner, but as i said, Wigan will be a far tougher test, as will the following 3 games.
(especially if the dullers have an early exit)

Magnificent display from the Robins I said a couple of weeks ago we are turning a corner certainly in attack and now we have nilled a super league team. That will give this team massive confidence. Mr Marrow came on these forums and slagged Hull Kingston Rovers off both on and off the field only three weeks ago since then we have not lost and had a massive injection of cash. Mr Marrow please keep engaging mouth before brain as your ignorance to this mighty club may take us all the way to lifting the challenge cup.

His Bobness wrote:First half hour I was a bit concerned. Although it was no score it is fair to say Salford had been the more impressive team and they probably should have been ahead.

Salford had a lot of energy and more enterprise but Rovers dug in. I feel the Rovers we have seen for much of 2011 would have capitulated but not this time. Even as the first half counted down I thought someone would score and break the deadlock. Happily it was Rovers and it was Blake Green a man who has for me really exceeded expectations, especially with his ability to cross the whitewash.

Into the second half and still very unclear as to the eventual winner but Rovers looking more and more assured. Try of the game from Ben Cockayne but 0-12 isn't a commanding lead these days. Salford as in the first half had plenty of good field position and were certainly still in the game but Rovers defence seemed to get stronger & stronger and looked ever more capable of keeping Salford out.

Kris Welham then scored a try which he could not have done maybe even last year. He has now added strength and power to his game and managed to force his way towards the line and then get the ball down despite 3 or 4 tacklers trying to stop him. This man is now the real deal, I feel Yeaman will have to step aside for him when it comes to international honours.

Salford continued to have a good share of possession and field position but Rovers were now racing into the tackle and driving them back. Whereas some of the first half defending needed to be of a desperate nature now it was dominant.

Rovers polished Salford off with a late drop goal and then a Webster try. 0-25 tells a story but not the whole story because actually Salford were not at all bad tonight. They gave it everything but when they were on top Rovers wouldn't submit and those long spells clinging onto 0-0 were the matchwinner.

Forget the Bradford win this was far more important. Tonight we played a team who believed they could beat us and played confidently to the limit of their ability. Rovers overcame that and ended up convincing winners. Last week Hull had a bit of a 'soft' win against Salford but nobody would have had a soft win against them tonight.

Rovers finished the game dominant strutting around like a peacock. It had been real tough but if you finish a battle on the right side of 0-25 you've done OK.

If pmh ever holds a party I recommend you stay in and wash your hair. He's been at a different game to me tonight.

I couldn't make the game last night due to other commitments but no matter what way you slice it, keeping another Super League team to nil is a great achievement - especially some of the attacking form Salford have shown this season.

As far as Yeaman vs Welham for England, Yeaman is still averagely average for me - the majority of his tries this season have been walk ins on the back of Willie Manu sucking in defenders; very similar to our own overrated John Goddard who looked like a world beater playing outside of Michael Smith but got found out big time when he had to make his own tries by running intelligent lines and angles.

Wigan away will obviously be really tough but the team have a 10 day turn around so should be fairly fresh.

Wasnt a classic display but ws a massive step in the right direction. Salford bombed a couple of guilt edged chanced esrly on, Pattens being the most noteworthy but in fairness to us we stuck at it.
I thought Clinton, Vella and Netherton put in good performances, running the ball in hard which has been lacking this year. Our attack looked a bit predictable but Jake had yet another good game.
In the hat for the next round and it will be no doubt a v hard draw with in all likelyhood the 8 teams coming from the top 9 in SL.
10 weeks now tho to get further improvement so lets see what happens.

Excellent try this one, he's playing with a lot of confidence at the minute and looks dangerous every time he's near the line. As you've said, starting to look like the real deal and international standard.

Realistically we need to be hoping for a home tie again Leeds, Cas/Wakey or (dare I say it) Hull. Come the semis and the final anything can happen!
