morleys_deckchair wrote:what's that got to do with kevin skerrett getting sparked out by Koloto?

I suspect he's responding to this:

morleys_deckchair wrote:cassidy threw an elbow into Morleys head like a coward as he ran straight at him.

In that just as Koloto/Skerrett stemmed from previous, Cassidy's elbow also stemmed from previous from Morley, earlier in the same game in fact on Robbie McCormack. Wasn't too hard to figure out really, was it.

wigan pie man wrote:for wigan.....Bill Ashurst, Faz, the yet unmentioned Danny Gardner, Cass.......................but the 2 hardest imo , are Mctigue and Denis Boyd.
if those 2 came to blows it would be a tough call with Boydys legendary head butt probably swinging it his way.

other teams....present player....dirty but hard....Keith Senior

I think McTigue would have have got enough punches in before Boyd could have got near enough to use his head.

Good call with Danny Gardiner. Lovely man off the field but an absolute animal on it.

SAINTS THE ORIGINAL AND PERENNIAL CHEATS

For sale full Saints kit (circa 1989). Shirts in pristine condition, but shorts badly soiled.

For 27 - 0 you get a trophy
For 75 - 0 you get sod all.

Wigan had eight in a row
Saints have five in a row

Not the greatest of players but fans from the 70's may remember Tommy Highton, a full back (unfortunately behind George Fairbairn) who if you faced him one on one would unleash one of his "specials", with the inevaitable result of someone (not Highton) reassembling himself several minutes later.

so how is getting knocked clean out in a stand up fight the same as getting knocked out by a cheap elbow?

people are putting skerett up as the hardest of the hard... yet Koloto knocked him out fair and square... so he isnt is he?

previous has nothing to do with the discussion...

not that really hard to figure out when you consider the subject matter is it?

unless of course you are saying cassidy is a harder player than morley.

Was a great game with Queensland hurting rovers badly until up stepped Broadhurst and knocked out the hooker and after that Queensland played alot cleaner.
Rovers won and the all conquering Queensland team asked for a rematch, rovers refused after counting the cost of injuries from the match !
A true classic.

Len Casey and david Watkinson was handy also.

No-one said it was. If you can get your head round it, the whole conversation started because you said Skerrett was 'cleaned out'. Only later did you explain it was a punch. (BTW - does anyone else remember this incident?)

morleys_deckchair wrote:people are putting skerett up as the hardest of the hard... yet Koloto knocked him out fair and square... so he isnt is he?

Land a good first punch and you can clean anyone out.

morleys_deckchair wrote:previous has nothing to do with the discussion...

You were actually the first to mention previous, between Koloto and Skerrett in the game at central park. Pieman simply replied that the Cassidy incident also came about as a result of previous.

morleys_deckchair wrote:not that really hard to figure out when you consider the subject matter is it?

Clearly harder for some than others.

morleys_deckchair wrote:unless of course you are saying cassidy is a harder player than morley.

I don't think anyone's said that either. But remember this: size does not equal mental or physical toughness. Morley has always had the advantage of being huge. Cassidy, with his rather more diminutive frame and weight, mixed it with the biggest and toughest in world RL for almost 20 years.

There are plenty of other names in this thread I think we can place ahead of Cassidy, Koloto and your hero Morley.

your possibly right....boydy had a jaw of iron , but mctigues boxing background may have swung it.

correct about danny gardiner....draftsman by day, doorman at paradise club in scholes at weekends.
a true story..........Ken halliwell (swinton prop), was in there sh!thousing the week before they played wigan.....i believe Halliwell had a cheap shot at DG, before being escorted out with Danny telling him he wouls see him on the rugby field.
Halliwell worked diging holes for the water board with my mate...and told him this tale....he spent all week cr@pping himself.
Day of game...a couple of minutes in...Danny ever so cooly walked up to Halliwell face to face and flattened him....with the ball nowhere near the pair..lol.
result?....halliwell stretchered off, Danny sent off.

bring back the biff :)
