Will never understand why we can't get a deal with adidas. The theory about Rovers not been a big enough sports club for them (e.g. compared to Liverpool, Chelsea, AC Milan etc) is rubbish because they now produce for clubs like Peterborough United who's crowds so far this season are very similar to ours (so I would expect their shirt sales to be as well). Just doesn't make sense IMO, adidas shouldn't be out of our reach these days, imagine how many we'd shift if they got on board.

It does not work like that mate.

Rovers would want a fee, somewhere in the reigon of £25,000-£50,000 from a supplier to do their kit.

Adidas dont do any Rugby kits for a reason, because there is no real money in it.

Daft as it sounds there is probably more exposure in League 1 than Super League with TV coverage and the amount of pages in Newspapers etc. I also imagine Peterboroughs replica sales are around the same as Rovers.

Adidas's UK guy is very football minded and puts a lot of effort into securing football kit deals, hence the North Ferriby and Peterborough type deals.

Not many Suppliers are bothered about paying much money to clubs now, especially brands who have the biggest clubs anyway like ISC and Puma.

My money would be on Canterbury. They are begging us to push their teamwear instead of O'Neill's and the last time the rep came to see me he was asking me for a good contact.

The stuff is good, would not pay Rovers much though.

Ah right, thanks for that Digger, to be honest it does make sense when you put it like that. Shame though because we could definitely be successful for them in RL terms.

Coincidentally was having a look on the O'Neill's site earlier, the Widnes shirts they do look very smart. :)

Hey so don't adidas have any involvement with the NRL now then?

Also thought Kukri produced excellent shirts when we had them for a season.

That been the case I suggest we get these guys back on board with some heavyweight cotton shirts brought up to modern standards (like ISC and Hull have done):

Kukri are awful, both for quality and lead times. They are always really late.

O'Neill's gear is awesome but I am not sure they would want Rovers either, they are already talking to two massive SL clubs.

Actually yeah IIRC they had done the prototype for our 2005 shirts (+ new leisure wear which the newly-opened shop opp East park had started selling), then the club suddenly changed to Carlotti. I heard that it was because Kukri messed up with getting them done in time.

Ah right, us and....... :)

So, Matchwinner, any good these days? :)

I have no idea about Matchwinner ha ha

Their not talking to Rovers mate, not yet anyway. If they get the two they are after they will have two of the biggest replica sellers in SL so probably wouldnt need or want any other clubs, the risk is too high of them not paying and the fee's needed are inflated at the moment because of brands getting desperate.

Who not paying fees, us or O'Neills? That was what I didn't get with the initial Kooga problems - rumours on here of us owing them money, but then like you said it's normally brands paying clubs not the other way round?!! :? :EH:

The two top shirts sellers would be (I'm guessing) Hull & Leeds?

What happens is the brand would pay a fee, or maybe just supply free of charge kit, or both. SL clubs can normally command a fee and free of charge stuff.

Then, all replica shirts, merchandise etc will be bought by the club at trade price and sold in the shop with all profit going to them. Obviously the bigger the replica sales the more the brand makes by selling the shirts to the club.

So when the...erm....rumours about the club owing Kooga a lot of money it was for stuff they had purchased and sold but not paid for, allegedly

Oh right, cheers, interesting....

Sounds like we're sticking with Kooga anyway, but just hope the designs + quality are a lot better this year.

The only Adidas NRL kit to my knowledge are the Gold Coast Titans ones, which incidentally are fantastic.

Going by what people say about their own club's kits, none of the manufacturers are overly fantastic. I always thought ISC were the "Adidas of RL" if you like, but Hull's kits weren't overly great quality according to many on here.

I think the kits this year have been very good, my only gripe with them is why they insist on having that plasticy stuff on them. Next year's design hopefully won't require the use of it, and I suppose a thinner shirt wouldn't hurt. But mine have never gone pink or anything in the wash etc. so I can't complain from that side of things
