It's a shame that only a matter of hours after the club has released what is one of the most significant announcements they will make this year, some fans are already trying to quell debate over it simply because the majority of opinion (on this forum at least) appears to be negative.
I put a counter point to yours and then agreed we should get behind the team. Seems you are a little over sensitive.

I took your 'getting behind the team' comment to mean that we should stop criticising the contract renewal ahead of the game tomorrow, if that's not what you meant I apologise.
Hull FC Est.1865... Surviving without a Head Coach since 2008

I've just come across this news and couldn't believe it. Then I saw what day it was and then I realised... Don't worry FC fans, it's just a nasty April Fool's wind up!

The only thing I can think of is that the board have realised they perhaps didn't offer the last 2 coaches the backing they needed (i.e. discipline, recruitment/retention, etc), and are making a real effort not to make the same mistake again. Unfortunately, IMO they're simply making a different, bigger one, and continuing to gamble on a man who is still yet to prove he is capable of the job.

I'll wait for the next "tell us" phone line to open. If there is no sign of an improvement in the next games I will be ringing (again). The main problem is that Rule really/truly believes Agar is World class, no questions about it, hook line & sinker. The last time I rang it was like talking to a brick, he just kept going on and on about it being a lack of good players/injuries etc., and this season with the likes of Fitzgibbon/O'meley and Long we will break eggs with big sticks. My main point (which he just would'nt listen to) was the motivational bypass that the players seem to have with him in control. It's a massive risk in my opinion, if he fails to deliver we will be another 2 years at square one.

The cynic in me wonders if that explains the timing of the announcement. If it's controversial now, imagine the uproar if the announcement came on the back of a couple of losses over the weekend.

I'll always get behind the team, although there are times when I question my sanity for doing so.

I agree though that the team needs our full support tomorrow, but it seems to me that rather than the club intending this to be a 'timely boost' ahead of the derby, it is more a case of them attempting to bury bad news in the hope that if we manage to win tomorrow this will all get forgotten about.
The Agar bashing has been going on for over a year. Whether we like it or not he is the man and we have to live with it.

too right mate you and me both.
I don't think Hull are sophisticated enough to time announcements. They have a strategy and they are sticking by it, it seems to me.
