He was shocking.

Decisions not to penalise a couple of high tackles, mainly. Like I say, works both ways, Wigan made a couple too.

Also forward passes. It's always been a bugbear of mine that the pass from the PTB is often a line-ball AT BEST. It's most noticeable with Cunningham and also Diskin, very rarely does a pass not go forward for those two. There were several again last night, but again, unpenalised.

Also in the build up to the final try, I'm sure there's a forward pass, but we got away with one in a build up to one of ours.

That's why I say, he didn't have a massively bad game by spoiling it in favour of either team, but he missed some things which POTENTIALLY could have changed the result. Whether for better or worse though, I couldn't say.

I think we'll reverse the result on the return fixture though. It will certainly be interesting to see how you fare at fortress Robin Park.

Which shows your lack of depth of understanding of anything, really.

By the way, I know I said earlier, "I wouldn't like to call" our next meeting, but having just seen the Super League Show, the game was filled with more positives than negatives for us. Remaining injury free will help us immensely, but I'm confident of a turnaround now.

Wish I could say the same for the next time we face Warrington.

That Wiganer with the Manly top it showed on Sky after the final whistle telling his missus to f*** off was hillarious.

:D
Bless him, some of the shots from the Wigan crowd were hilarious. I think they were all wondering by how many they were going to beat us by at half time!

Forward passes are the linesmens responsibility aren't they? And the most obvious one was the one that Wigan got away with for their first try.

we got away with a knock on just before one of our tries I reckon. There was a forward pass in the run-up to a Wigan team and the off-sides were awful. I don't think the ref changed the result though and I'm surprised anyone thought the wind was that strong. No more than a stiff breeze really.

when two opposite points of view are expressed with equal intensity, the truth does not necessarily lie exactly halfway between them. It is possible for one side to be simply wrong.

There are forward passes in every game which no-one seems to care about (especially the officials), maybe it's the 'let's keep the game moving' mantra which seems to prevail. I'm not going to knock Bentham for the odd miss, as you say, it went both ways and didn't affect the result (in a tight game as well!) and anybody can make a mistake.

What I did notice about the PTBs was that he seemed to go a metre or so beyond the ten, which meant that anyone standing slightly in front would have actually been ON-side, again this was the same for both teams. This used to be common practice at one time but not so much now. He did give an odd 'not square' decision (against Wigan) which surprised me because the refs in general don't seem to be applying that rule these days.

I didn't think the wind was strong (from my seat in the stand!!) but on TV the flags were well stretched out. I think the clincher though has to be the kicking performances of the respective teams in each half, where both got much more distance when kicking towards the Coral Stand.

The flags were one indicator but the ball clearly changing direction in mid-air was the other. When the ball was kicked off against the wind, you could see it in the air (from the side-on view anyway) clearly hold up. If there was no wind, then it must have been some sort of wonder-ball to do that!
