Denman has always been impressive on soft and heavy ground, albeit not for a couple of years, hasn't had the chance to be so. Will be a very interesting race if there is some rain, otherwise Kauto Star will win easily.
imperial commander was primed for that race at haydock, kauto was no where near fully fit...it was near enough heavy at haydock, i was there! the key to kauto is keeping him fresh and for gold cup day he will be deadly, the year denman beat kauto was because kauto ran 4 weeks before at ascot and wasnt fresh enough for chelt. 2009 race denman and neptune collonges finished near enough the same distance between them as in 2008 but kauto improved past them both for not having a race 4 weeks before .. thats my theory anyway!! got 7/4 on kauto so happy now hes as short at 4/5.
todays racing
kings counsel . 2.50 catt.. 7/1 visor fitted this time, hopefully bring out the extra improvement. backed e/w
king in waiting .3.50 catt 11/1 quite a big price, if its not too soft at catterick, going chasing soon with this one.
I don't disagree with what you say with regards to the build ups to the race. Like I say, it will take some spectacularly heavy ground for Denman, but to completely rule out the ground is naive IMO.
Plus I've seen as short as 4/7 about Kauto Star tbh. I'm not too concerned about missing out on a slip with 7/4 on it, can't back such favourites Ante-post with any confidence. Haven't got any bets going into the festival this year and only had 1 in the previous 2 years which ran and won at 14/1, 7/1 on the day.

Anyone catch the 2.30? I was thinking of a small bet on My Les, saw it came second, interested to know how it went (elected to buy a sandwich instead).

Good luck going into the bookies and trying to back Quato Star.
I once read your post on here regarding a bet, and you had posted something along the lines of.....I wish my financial situation was good enough to have been able to put some money on that.
If you're still in Sheffield, I will meet on Gold cup day and empty my copper jar for you to have a few bob on the horse of your choice. Don't want your year to be ruined by regret do we now.

Excellent stuff again, great to see the winners keep coming!
Been too busy to look earlier or have a bet, but happy to see people caning the bookies...
I've see much worse 6/5 shots than Charlton at Bristol Rovers tonight and although Charlton have been in a bit of a poor run of late I strongly fancy them to bounce back tonight and have far too much for BR, I've had an interest...

Having a bad 48 hours?
I'll be at the Festival for the Gold Cup, I'll be cheering on Quato Star hoping it hoses up for you.

On a side note, do people know about the new promotion William Hill have been doing lately. Place a tenner on a horse (in a specific race), and if it loses, you get a free 5pound to play on the gaming machine. That's the jist of it I think anyway.
Now contrary to some peoples opinions, some people who go in the bookies are intelligent people, and as soon as the promotion was on the screen, someone shouted out "OHH GREAT, THERE TRYING TO GET YOU ADDICTED TO MACHINES NOW". There are however people who are not so intelligent and they are the ones that are targeted and they are the ones that place the bets (on races they wouldn't usually target) and at prices they usually wouldn't, but do just further incentives (free bets) etc. It is of my opinion that William Hill would like as many people addicted to the machines as possible, contrary to what they may say in the media as responsible gambling. Now I''m not suggesting bookmakers should make a pledge to be the most ethical company in Britain, but you could argue that they do have a sense of responsibility.
Anyone got any opinions on this? Or am I just passing time in my break with a rant into something that isn't there.
