Its a shame Willie Mason has such a bad off field reputation. Wigan won't touch him because of this but if we were only taking into account on field factors - he'd probably be just what we need.
It would seem Celtic are in the hunt for him and the big money they'll offer him might be enough to get him over here.
I hope someone on here might be able to answer a question for me - it says in the press that Celtic as a developing club are allowed up to 14 overseas players. Who are classed as 'developing clubs' (do Quins/Catalans still fall under that category) and how long are these clubs given before they must abide by the same rules/restrictions as everyone else?

I don't think Quins are still allowed extra overseas players, and hasn't catalans allowance been reduced? Not sure tbh, but I imagine that they'll get reduced gradually rather than all at once.

Even discounting the off-field stuff, on field he's just had a garbage season and it remains to be seen if he'll ever be the player he was before his operation though.

Had a pretty bad injury (torn bicep I believe) but would be a good signing if he could prove that he was over it. Would have been even better two years ago though

I'm pretty sure Cats are only allowed 6 overseas players this season.
I could however be wrong!
LeagueFreak 25/03/2011 For reference, Wigan is like the Roman Empire. Warrington is like the pillow fort I built in my bedroom when I was 9. Ok, 26...

One look at Harlequin's squad shows that they have considerably less imports than the majority of clubs in Super League including Wigan.

They also have considerably less homegrown juniors - but then that applies to most clubs in SL, including Warrington, so Quins (nor your club for that matter) need feel too embarrassed.

He would only be what we need on a playing level, the off-field stuff is just as important. We want players who will set a great example for the young players, who will work their socks off because they love the team, who are willing to do things the Wigan way. This is why I am happy to be keeping Bailey.
Star players are not what we need, we need a great mix of experience, young talent, home grown experience, overseas excelence and good partnerships within the team.
Dropkick Murphy..we actually saw and heard a mass of bouncing and scarf and flag waving to Dale Cavese that drowned out anything we could muster.. It stopped us singing our own celebratory songs, it died out seconds later when we accepted we couldn't be heard over the Wigan lot Celebrations muted from us, job done from them. Most fans who slag them off are jealous their own club's support is nowhere near that good - sally cinnamon..Why not discuss Wigan? It's a rugby league message board. Wigan are the most famous brand in rugby league - Tre Cool..Saints fans are hopeless unless it's a cup final or grand final. Wigan fans are so much more loyal and passionate - the flying biscuit..Wires havent been massively succesful over the years, but I've spoke to Brian Bevan And he spoke to me and i wouldnt swap that for Wigans History, ever - Ande..on the TV i could only hear the Wigan fans with about 10 to go - Saint94..Every team is in your feckin shadow, we all know - FIOS

Given our quota needs to reduce by 2 at the end of 2010 I cant help but think that phelps and bailey may be the ones to give way. Should that be the case then i would love to see briscoe as our full back from 2011 onwards. He is a wigan lad and would add to the wiganer playing for wigan theme.
He is also off contract at the end of 2010 at Hull KR i believe.
On a side note i personally like phelps and thought he was great last year and would prefer him on the quota than Amos.
