You missed the most obvious difference to McClennan's Leeds, the absence of a Tri Nations tournament to conclude the 2007 season.

Eh? I posted on a thread I am interested in. I posted a thought out and articulate opinion. WTF are you on about? Do you understand how message boards work? If you want to discuss the issue at hand that is fine but do not try to play me you insignificant stain on Richie Ramrods' underpants because you're as out of your depth as a Morecambe cockle picker.

Oh, having spoken to people at the club huh?

Well not everyone is afforded the luxury of having chats with people in the know.

But since when did what they say really mean anything? I bet at the start of the season they were probably ''determined to get to wembley and lift the cup''.

G1 wrote:The majority of the squad came back from the world cup physically and mentally shattered.
Majority? I'm not sure about numbers but i don't think the majority of our squad played in the world cup. A large percent of our key players and starting 13 yes.

G1 wrote:There was little or no pre-season before the players had to attempt to peak for a WCC and, shortly thereafter an earl;y cup tie against Saints.
No pre season so the players could re-charge the batteries etc?

Sounds very well thought out by McClennan and co and makes some of our early season wins against well prepared fired up opposition even more impressive if that is the case.

G1 wrote:The training and game plan have been deliberately scaled down all season long.
So the team were playing within themselves on purpose........yet still winning against fired up opposition trying their hardest? Damn, those early season battles are looking more impressive by the minute.

But I guess we need to possible re think the super league get's better mantra.

G1 wrote:If you listened to Mclennan's post match interviews after the cas game he said they had targeted that game, after the break, for quite some time as the point to scale up the training, scale up the preparation and scale up the performance.

It's a personal perference but I take no notice whatsoever of post match, pre match and interviews in general from players and coaches. I just don't think they're useful.

I've heard so much stuff over the years. Team a is really fired up and has been working overtime in training. Team a then loses by 70 points.

G1 wrote:If you watched us in the game we played a very different brand of rugby to that we have played all year. It was very good.

Cool story bro. But it'll be the qualities they showed in those early season battles that will shine through if they are to win the big prize.

G1 wrote:I don't give a love about the opposition and their lack of intensity. I was more concerned with how we looked in the run in to the playoffs and our performance and discipline were spot on.

Props to you, spoken lklike a true one eyed supporter

Jimmy - no player or team can peak all season. Not physically, not mentally.

Leeds clearly tried to achieve a peak of sorts early season for the WCC and the benefits of that would be evident for some weeks after.

What they couldn't do is maintain that intensity through to October. They eased off in order to build for the business end of the season.

Best listen to Jimmy. I suspect that when it comes to peaking too soon he is our resident expert,

I still remember the one quote from McClennan after the Wakey game when he said "we haven't started our run yet". We've done exactly the same for the past two seasons. You'll probably find we played really poorly in July and August in both of those years if you look back.

Only if faced with the image of an orange, hairless, glistening muscle man whose steroid reduced appendage is held snugly in a lycra pouch.

But then who wouldn't?

Oh, so now you want to debate the issue? So you weren'#t just trolling me then. How do you know I haven't trolled this response out of you? ;-)

I'll indulge you.

Quote:But since when did what they say really mean anything? I bet at the start of the season they were probably ''determined to get to wembley and lift the cup''.
I bet they were. Do you think they weren't?

Quote:Majority? I'm not sure about numbers but i don't think the majority of our squad played in the world cup. A large percent of our key players and starting 13 yes.
I don't have the numbers either but I'd guess more than half of our squad of 25 were involved, hence the majority. Certainly the majority of our starting 17.

Quote: No pre season so the players could re-charge the batteries etc?
Very little pre season.

Quote:Sounds very well thought out by McClennan and co and makes some of our early season wins against well prepared fired up opposition even more impressive if that is the case.
I agree. He's made the most of a bad situation and is doing his utmost to ensure we peak at the right time, again.

Quote:So the team were playing within themselves on purpose........yet still winning against fired up opposition trying their hardest? Damn, those early season battles are looking more impressive by the minute.
No. The coaching and medical staff were scaling back training and match preparation. I'd imagine the team give 100% every time they take the field, win lose or draw.

Quote:But I guess we need to possible re think the super league get's better mantra.
Eh? Are you confused?

Quote:It's a personal perference but I take no notice whatsoever of post match, pre match and interviews in general from players and coaches. I just don't think they're useful.
I take notice of everything. I discern what I find useful. Ignoring a subject matter simply means you don't have the full picture, which is self evident from your posts.

Quote:Cool story bro. But it'll be the qualities they showed in those early season battles that will shine through if they are to win the big prize.
I'd imagine it will be how the team plays on the day rather than some qualities they showed 7 months ago but whatever,

Quote:Props to you, spoken lklike a true one eyed supporter
We were analysing Leeds performances. It helps to focus on Leeds to so do.[/quote]
