SOMEBODY SAID that it couldn’t be done But he with a chuckle replied That “maybe it couldn’t,” but he would be one Who wouldn’t say so till he’d tried. So he buckled right in with the trace of a grin On his face. If he worried he hid it. He started to sing as he tackled the thing That couldn’t be done, and he did it!

We are not playing the conditions , we are playing the Australians
If you think too much about the conditions you are not paying attention to the opposition
So if you win the toss in an RL match do you play against the wind or with the wind? If you know theres a good chance of rain in F1 you start your driver off with intermidiates. If you play at Batley you take the hill into account. etc etc etc etc etc
You always have to make your dicssions based on what may happen and the way the conditions are at the minute it suits England to bat or are you saying take the risk and give the convicts an advantage?

I'd have enforced the follow on. Stick them in again under pressure, have a right go at them... But still. Just hope these two early wickets don't come back to haunt us.
Ponting's been priceless again, though. Someone needs a bit of fielding practice.

I'd always go with the wind , it might change
Good chance means nothing , it might not
The ' Hill ' , it can work either way
But cricket is different to other sports , you dont have a set time that you play the game , that can change because of the weather , you have real options either by winning the toss or playing yourself into a position of strength as we have doen today
In cricket you both dont get equal amounts batting and bowling as you would playing up or down at Batley
Good teams try to win , be positive , show signs of negativity or lack of confidence and the opposition will pick up on it

Exactly , divide and conquer , we have given them time to re group and Ponting time to ' coach ' his team back into this game

If our bowlers had come out firing, and we'd knocked the last two wickets off straight away, then I think we might have bowled again.
As it was our bowlers toiled, and apparently Flintoff is struggling with his knee so I can see why the decision was made.
Pieterson is struggling with his ankle , nature of sport
The Aussies bowled terrible up to lunch but have done much better since
They are bowling at the wicket and tying us down similar to how we did yesterday
