This is information that i received from the Doncaster independent supporters club, if fans could contribute anything from £5 per month the club would be in a lot better financial position doing it this way rather than the single businessman.

300 fans pay £5 per month = £1500 per month = £18000 per year
300 fans pay £10 per month = £3000 per month = £36000 per year
this would make massive strides to let our club be run by our fans

D.I.S.C was formed approx 18 months ago, the concept was to ask supporters to contribute to the fund via standing order to help raise funds to act as a squad builder account, we also carried out bucket collections at 3 home games during the course of last season, the committee formed make the decision to hand funds to the club if they needed new players or to help retain the existing squad, initially 30 peopled signed up to the idea with contributions ranging from £5 per month up to a maximum of £30 per month.

During the 18 months the supporters club as operated we have raised over £9000, all of which as been given to the club, these funds helped secure the services of Sam Raey, Jamie Thackeray, and helped towards the deal for Zeb Luisi and other influential players.

I hope this goes to show if 200/300 loyal supporters subscribed to such a concept then the club would be financially sound if managed by a board/committee of hard working sensible supporters who have the essential skills to manage the finances of a club.

At the start of this season Ray Green proposed setting up one united supporters club and the committee of D.I.S.C agreed and the 2 funds run alongside each other, the main concept of the supporters group was to hold regular fund raising events and to date we have raised nearly £4000, only £2 membership fee, again these events were only supported by a small number of supporters usually between 30/40, imagine what could be achieved if every supporter gave up a small amount of time and small amount of money what a strong and successful we can have.

I hope you can post this on the fans forum mate, and stress its time to act and using the time people spend moaning about others failures and as a supporters body untied give ourselves a club we can be proud to support.

This is the point I made in apost a while ago when somebody had a bit of a go at the hardcore fans doing nothing. Ive been paying into the DISC fund for something like 18 months or 2 years now.You are right Baz, the fund has contributed a lot of money to the club to pay for loan players etc and I even understand that a large amount was given to the club a few weeks ago to help the current situation.

The only thing that riles me is that never once i dont think has the club thanked the fund for any donation. It would be nice for the fund to be acknowledged every now and then by the club, a to show it is appriecated and b to make other fans aware that the fund does exist and people can join and help if they want to.

I know its not much but I set up the buy.at website fund for DISC.If all the fans used this the potental is there to raise a stack of money from this.

I 100% agree with you Baz, this should be the base from where we start and kick on from. We'll have another chat on Sunday mate ready for Tuesdays meeting.

I think the Buy at should be located on the website and the forum, for anyone thinking of purchasing anything then look at the shops at BUY AT, these pay % into the club just for purchasing at one of the hundreds of shops online.
can a link be put on the forum and i sahll see if it can be put on the website when its back up running.

At Batley Bulldogs we have BISSA (Batley Independent Supporters Squadbuilder Association) we have monthly donations + run events(annual dinner/Race Night) + sell match day DVDs + Spread & Save programme ( we give supporters jars of jam/bisto/pickles etc they take them use the contents, fill the jar with coins and then they hand the jars in which has raised £3132.74 from 263 jars over the last 4 seasons) + buy@bissa
The Spread & Save was copied from Fetherstone

We have a hard working committee of 9 people and I believe we have helped keep the club in the first division over the last few years

Quite agree with all these points and I ve put money into various accounts in the past and heard nothing about where s it gone or who s it paid for and never a thanks from anyone at the club just grasping hands wanting more money with no accountability to those donating the money.

To me this is why a supporters trust will be the best way forward because it as to be open and more fans will support something if its being seen to go the to club and that there will be some accountability.

I used to work with somebody who was involved with Bissa and i know for a fact they have done some great work over the years and been able to help the club loads of times in signing players and contributing when money has been tight.Hopefully we can get ours going the same ernie.Keep up the good work mate.

Two things occur to me;
1) Any money making idea has to be explored (without hesitation)
2) I don't know what the activities of other existing committees and groups are? It strikes me that if possible everything should be brought under one umbrella so to speak or if there are other activities which can't for some reason these could / should run in parallel (with clearly defined links established).
