should be given to the bbc for this weekends challenge cup coverage

not sure of the guys name that did saturdays game, but he did his research, and came across very well, and tanya was faultless in her hosting of the game at the galpharm

loved the build up to both games, thought it was a good help to anyone not "au fait" with the sport, but,the main plaudits should be given to the cameramen, whose work getting the right angles was superb!!

Have to disagree. I thought the cameraman recording the interview with Terry Matterson before the game was shocking. He was wobbly, and how close do they need to get to his face? It looked awful.

And Ray French should not be allowed to commentate anymore. Ryan McCormmack/McCullen, Craig Sargeant and blood-bin substitutions don't count as an interchange, amongst other things. Not the first time he's gotten people's names wrong and now getting the rules wrong too. Time to hang it up, Ray.

As I said in the other thread, even though French is embarrassing and has been for years he is still a lot better than Dave Woods.

If it hasn't worked by now, it never will! I'm all for reaching out to a wider audience with our game but not at the expense of historical clubs in the homelands.

we'll always differ over the commentators, but i really felt the "sense of occasion" was prominent over the weekend , and overall came across very good

Dan Walker was Saturday's presenter. I remember he used to do City & United commentaries for Key 103 in Manchester a few years back so it a localish lad and works for both 5 Live Sport and reading bulletins on BBC New Channel. Googling him reveals he is a very strong christian, so much so he refuses to work Sundays which has cost him jobs in the past and hence why he didn't do today as well.

I do agree with the original poster except that the commentary today was a joke. Two blindly drunk men could have been more cohesive than Ray French & Jonathan Davies today. They just kept talking over each other time & time again. It was terrible. A far cry from Saturday's commentary where I thought Nobby did ok, first time he's been the match commentary pundit that I can recall. Get rid of Davies and let Justin Morgan go in the box for the other game. He's a natural at tv punditry.

Anyway seems clear now that Dave Woods is Number 1 commentator. Wonder who will eventually take Ray's place as number 2 man????

Totally disagree. I think Dave Woods is the best RL TV commentator at the moment, including Sky.

I thought the "Bradford Interchange" was awesome. That must have got the Cas fans confused.

The Guy From Saturday certainly did homself some justice, I wonder if Claire Balding had had a word with him and told him to enjoy it and respect the game ect.

Can't comment on todays as didnt get the telly on til half 5 due to been out, but Tanya Arnold knows her stuff cos she covers League on Look North,

Yeah you'd have to say it was one of the best weekends RL has ever had on the Beeb - which was rewarded by two cracking contests in perfect weather (which helps)

It's about the only thing in the town centre that hasn't been knocked down yet.
