Surely your priority in terms of ground development, should be to build a state of the art away stand?
I think from a business point of view, the East Stand should be the priority, as it has been a sell out for every game in the last year since the 1st extension, so clearly the demand is there. Apart from your lot, away support never fills what is offered, and looking at the away numbers that go to the KC (last Sat being a prime example), we could spend millions on a lavish away end and still not get decent visitor numbers.
Many fans in Lancs & West Yorkshire are spoiled by being able to travel 30 miles to attend away games, they see a trip to Hull as akin to climbing Everest.

Surely your priority in terms of ground development, should be to build a state of the art away stand? I know you had plans proposed to put this in place, but why has it been swept aside? Fair enough Rovers are only trying to accomodate all of their 'home' fans, but I think it's about time your board put some serious thinking into making CP a ground that is fit to facilitate away fans. The difference between CP and likes of Belle vue, Knowsley road, etc, is at those grounds away fans can go and congregate amongst themselves and generate an atmosphere. Whereas at CP, away fans have the choice of standing at the sound end of the ground (not fit to be called a 'stand') and not seeing any of the game, or seat themselves in the 1000 capacity golf stand (half of which is taken up by home fans). And you actually wonder why everyone refuses to go to your ground? I rarely come on this board and 'troll' but I'm afraid issue needs to be raised.
It'll cost £70k to put another golf stand at the south end. Probably the best part of £200k to finish off the east stand. It's been quoted as costing £6000000 to build the north stand. As EHR has said there is a recession at the present time, but yet unlike Wakefield, Cas, Salford and Saints, Rovers will be starting the work at the end of this season, whilst the others will still be producing computer art work to show what might happen.
Craven Park is far from being the best venue in the league, but at twenty years old it's still a lot more 'modern' than many of the stadiums in the SL.
Rumours of a new ground for Rovers in east Hull crop up now and again, but to be honest, after the deal Hull struck with the council for the KC, I'd sooner we stayed where we are and develop the place to a suitable standard.

I'M SURE THERE IS NO CORRELATION BETWEEN THE FACT THAT THE FRONT RUNNERS FOR THE 2009 MEDIA WHINGING AWARD ARE FROM GATESHEAD AND HULL FC, FORMERLY THE B*ST*RD-TWINS OF ONE OF RUGBY LEAGUE'S LOUSIER IDEAS.

i reckon a few do. i dont live in hull any more and when im back i only go to a game if i can get and east stand ticked (everyone i used to go with still has a season ticket) or i can find someone else to come along. had to drag my fc fan brother along a few times...
i know a few people in this situation (who i end going with when possible), you just want to be with your mates, not on your own.

Fair do's, however would you not go alone and sit in say the North stand to watch your hero's??
I'm gonna spit all over you, by accident of course.
If this is to go ahead I think it is the best possible solution in the current economic climate.
I would however like us to put a roof on the North stand and make that the dedicated away stand, then the away supporters could at least come and not get wet! I think this would encourage a few more, but as someone else said, a state of the art North stand as proposed, would not see enough improvement in away support to justify getting ourselves too much debt at this point in time. However, it is a must for the future, when and if the government can get this country out of the poop we are in financially.
The extension to the eats stand is a must and I think that will definitely help increase our gate, I know a fair few that, if they can't stand with their mates in the east stand, they pick and choose games to come too.
