yes its a defeat but now we have that out of th way we can go and get top spot and hopefully the northern rail cup.

The cheek of that post!

Halifax will drop more points before the end of the season i can guarantee that.

Love a brew.

Especially as their man that makes them tick seems to have suffered a bad injury.. on crutches I am led to believe and visiting hospital for an x-ray..

As for Celtic.. no doubt we'll see the crowds of 10 - 12k we were promised once they got a win or two under their belt.

Aww come on Rich - you have to admit that was a big shock and we need some encouragement at the moment. Seeing our GF opponents lose at last will give the lads a great filip

(wonders if the hint of irony will be lost  )

It was a big shock and has knocked a few chips of shoulders - my own included. When you see how they perform week in, week out you start thinking they're unbeatable. It's a lesson to be learnt that you just cannot expect to win matches by turning up. I expect a few struggles in the next few matches. Forget the 100 ponts in a match stuff - just a win is what is needed. Sheffield's comprehensive victory has breathed new life into this league.

Rich, on a seperate issue what does it take for Halifax to re-gain the confidence of the local people ?

A great start to the season, playing attractive rugby and off the back of getting so-near to a CC shock and only 2200 turn up.

Must be dissappointing for the club as I would have thought they would be expecting the numbers to return along the way.

It's the no promotion for 3 years licence factor. I'm sure if P & R was in place they would be getting better attendances, because of the genuine buzz of excitement and interest that probable promotion would cause.

3 year franchises were always going to be a kick in the teeth for the lower leagues.

On thread drift:

Little Pepe went to nursery school one day wearing his Widnes hat. His teacher asked him why he was a Widnes fan. He said, “Because my parents are.” His teacher said, “That’s not good. What would you do if your parents were drug dealers and hookers?” He replied, “Well then I would be a Warrington fan.”

There's a Wooly over there, baggy kecks and feathered hair
with a 3 star jumper half way up his back, that’s a fecking Wooly back!

Oooh-to… Oooh-to-be… Oooh-to-be-a… WOOLY!

In part, got to agree with Pepe and people have openly stated that they won't come down unless we're playing SL opposition. There's a two pronged attack the club must take.
1 - to entice those who used to attend 8 year ago. This is difficult given how dissapointed these people were by the 2003 season.
2 - to entice NEW supporters - equally difficult given the chioce of other cheaper entertainment on offer (Sky Sports, X-box, Wii etc..)

Widnes can get 3,000 to 4,000 no sweat and i certainly envy you of that. The brand of rugby we're playing (apart from Sunday :) ) is great to watch. Only time will tell if the people of Calderdale deserve a SL club at all. For the last two years we got 1,519 and 1,654 for the Sheffield game so the increase to 2,212 is obviously not good enough. It's worrying. If we perform well for the next two years and win a couple of trophy's and still can't get 3,000 to 4,000 then i think we need not bother applying for a franchise. There's already two or three lame duck attendance getters in Super League - we don't need another.
