I've a feeling both Barry and Alonso will be here next season as Gerrard, I would imagine, will play behind Torres. That gives the rotation of Alonso, Barry, Masch & Lucas for the 2 midfield slots. Also, Barry can play left side and at a push, left back.
When it seemed Alonso was available last summer, don't forget this was on the back of a forgettable 12 months for him. That previous season he didn't show his best at all. this season he has and therefore I don't think Rafa will be looking to sell him unless someone comes in with a very big offer.
personally, before Xmas, Alonso was probably our best player but since then, Gerrard has been outstanding and head and shoulders above every one else.

Would that be in some parrallel universe where someone will pay that much for Alonso?
Alonso is better than Barry - unless some idiot with more money than sense (city, Spurs) are willing to help you out as suggested above, I'd keep Alonso. He's class.

We wanted 20m Euro's for him after a mediocre season, he's now had a great season and we don't want to get rid, I think 30m Euro's is about the price that would tempt us, especially from somebody like Madrid.
