Seventies red wrote:I remember that weekend very well, we were in the Grasmere Hotel, which was about halfway along the sea front, we had a ball with all the Wigan fans.
We were the Rovers fans wearing the grass hula skirts and had a huge George cross flag with Hull Kingston Rovers emroidered accross the middle, boy what a weekend!!, does anyone remember that huge disco with a dance floor which apparently was the size of a football pitch, the noise in there that night with all the Wigan and KR fans singing was something i shall remember for ever.
What a weekend that was.
My son had been born on the 14th August and the game was on the 25th. Mrs Rogue kindly let me attend.
Wetting his head began on the coach to the ferry.
On arrival at the hotel our bags were "dropped" in the foyer and we headed for the bar. A mate of mine who had played bass in the same band as me previously was over there doing a gig that night, so he asked us to go and see him.
By about 3 a.m. I was (so I'm told) taking photographs of the hotel ceiling. I have never been so drunk in my life.
Next day as we walked up to the game, my mates decided to call in for a pint. I walked into the pub and immediatley walked out again to sit on the wall. To this day my mates said I was the colour of the traffic light (green).
My game time I was feeling better, a couple of bacardis helped.
At night we went to that disco you described. The fans of both sides were fantastic together.
Happy days.
