£105 odd for me and the missus.

I booked it soon after confirmation the weekend was going to Scotland.

It is a ridiculous world when a 1 hour odd flight costs less than a train journey of 8 hours plus.

Depends how good you are at booking train tickets.

If you can get Newport to Edinburgh return twice for £105.00 then let me know how as I haven't managed anything near that yet.

Depends on how many times you want to change trains and/or hide in the bogs  Can generally get a return from Preston to Edinburgh for £20-£25 after a bit of tweaking.

It'd be a very impressive feat if Preston was roughly the same distance from Edinburgh as Newport is but sadly it isn't.

We were going to stop in Glasgow but managed to get a hotel nearer to Edinburgh and quite glad we have as drinking in the Centre of Glasgow with a shirt and badge with Celtic written on it when Rangers have 50,000 + fans against Hearts at home is not my idea of fun. :)
