a super league with toulouse in but no widnes would look even more ridiculous than one with celtic in but no widnes.
it would seem in these transition years history, fanbase, local interest and tradition count for absolutely nothing

He is just a deeply depressed Midlander, with no professional rugby league team nearby, who is congenitally predisposed to pouring cold water on any project to build up French rugby league.
Mr Bowes has had this problem for years, and we who wish to see he growth of rugby league in France have had to endure his relentless negativity for years. Unfortunately there seems to be no cure for this kind of knee jerk negativity because he refuses to admit that he has a problem.
No I support Catalans in SL and I would support Toulouse in SL if they were good enough, but I don't support wasting money on shipping semi-pro sides in international travel, whereas the RFL wouldn't lift a finger to help the game in the midlands and have actively killed off semi-pro RL in the midlands before

Obviously Toulouse has the talent to make the Championship playoffs, and maybe even the Grand Final, this year. Any new acquisitions from the LER will only strengthen them.
With all this talk of Celtic Crusaders being in trouble with their ground there is a possibility that Crusaders will not see out their 3 year franchise license.
I sincerely hope that it is not true. But if the worst scenario regarding CC comes to pass, and the SL is down a side, perhaps it is possible that Toulouse will be elevated early (I say perhaps because I don't know what the rules are regarding licenses being awarded within the three year cycle). However I don't think that Toulouse can have the financial backing (sponsorship) necessary for Super League until we get through this global recession.

plenty of conjecture and rumour but some worrying points. especially this:
However, the worst aspect of this story that nobody has picked up on is that the Bridgend Ravens RUFC share of the purchase was directly funded by the WRU. That's the most disconcerting thing.
