We could, of course, mention the attack on Neil Turley in 2005 by your winger that went some way to finishing his career off.
Anyroad, I reckon Leigh-Widnes games are about as much as this league has got to hold on to it at the minute, certainly the biggest crowd puller and one of the few games where there might actually be a chance of some atmosphere.
May the best team win (my ar$e; we want blood!)
Matt, I haven't seen the Smith/Rowley and 2 others incident (if anyone has a copy I could borrow, I'd appreciate it) so can't comment upon it.
However, I was virtually opposite the Turley incident and it was a very hard but fair hit. I recall the damage to Turley was done by Gray Viane's head and IMO he only hit him with his head as he was travelling so fast in order to stop Turley going in at the corner causing the head to head contact.
Now I've played the game myself and I can't think of anyone who would deliberately hit somebody's head with their own head unless they wanted to seriously injure themselves too.
I was stood with my old man at the time who is totally unbiased and has played the game professionally and he was of the same opinion too.

Little Pepe went to nursery school one day wearing his Widnes hat. His teacher asked him why he was a Widnes fan. He said, “Because my parents are.” His teacher said, “That’s not good. What would you do if your parents were drug dealers and hookers?” He replied, “Well then I would be a Warrington fan.”
There's a Wooly over there, baggy kecks and feathered hair with a 3 star jumper half way up his back, that’s a fecking Wooly back! Oooh-to… Oooh-to-be… Oooh-to-be-a… WOOLY!

Fair do's, think it was at the Railway End corner so will take your word for it. Put the icing on a dreadful season, if anything.
With regards to the 'incidents', as Mo says, for every Rowley, there's been a Smith (though Rowley still owned him every time ), for every Adam Bibey there's a Barry Mac and, let's be honest, it was a chuckle when Gary Hulse tried to pick a fight with Heremaia, only to get laid out by Richard Moore.
You could probably write a book on the biff between our sides over the past 10 years, and although one could never condone violence on a rugby field, it gives us plenty to talk about for years afterwards so, in that case, long may it continue! You just don't get the same talking points in the vast majority of other games.

I think we all enjoy a bit of biff and fistycuffs, it gets the blood up, but holding a man down while others hit him is just plain cowardice.

I am not for cowardly acts, but in past years, some Widnes players really gave it some biff.
Lets just hope for a hard clean game. You will stuff us, but 100% is all I ask!!
