It is very interesting to read that several Widnes and Leigh fans are predicting 10,20,30 and even 40 point victories for Widnes. I am in the position of having seen you both play a few times this season and there is very little between you, on current form. As I said on the Leigh forum, I am struggling to find the evidence which says Widnes are much better than Leigh. If I am not mistaken, you are both out of the cup, you both have exactly the same points in the league, Widnes have played fourteen games in total this season and have lost eight of them and I think Leigh have seven wins from thirteen fixtures. I might be wrong, but based on facts and not hype and bull, that seems to suggest you are similar. Leigh have lost narrowly at home to Batley and Widnes in similar fashion to Oldham. You have both struggled to beat Sheffield Eagles, but having seen both games, Leigh did perform slightly better than you, despite winning by a narrower margin. Of course, all this counts for nothing on Friday. The fact that Leigh beat you in three out of four meetings last year, also counts for nothing, but so do so called name players. Of course we all know games are won on the pitch and not on paper. The fact that you are at home and will have the ref and crowd with you, are more likely to be the determining factors in you winning. Believe me, having seen you both play, Leigh certainly do not have to raise their game or raise the bar to compete with you. Home advantage should be key and likewise for Leigh when you go to their place.
So you think Widnes will win by less than 10?

If the penalty count is more or less even throughout and Leigh do not have anyone dismissed or sin binned, then yes. I think Widnes will win at Widnes and Leigh at Leigh. Depending on refs, both should be tight games. If Leigh end up down to eleven as at Fev and suffer yet another huge penalty count against them, they will struggle. If both teams keep thirteen men on the field and penalties are evenish, should be very very competitive.

Have you taken the weather into account? Atmospheric pressure, altitude, quality of light. Talk about over analysing.

Not really. In short, Widnes will have the ref at your place and crowd and should win. At Leigh, Leigh are likely to win. My point is there is not much between you . Hope that is clearer.
Been the case for quite a while that home advantage usually plays a big part in Smog-Leyth games, bar Peachey's full back masterclass in the rain in 2006

We put in a highly skilled performance on that night. We looked well organised and well drilled. We've appeared lost at times since then.
You're talking rubbish if you thought you could have put 100 on them, just another excuse to jerk off over your own team eh?
And what im saying is you were playing nobody. Had the french even had a warm up game? They were lambs to the slaughter. To even try and judge how good Widnes are basing it on that night is stupid. On paper you have some very good players but its pretty clear you are lacking in certain areas.
You will get revenge when we play you at yours though so your turn to gloat will come. Anyway we got a loss to Haven to think about first.

Thank the Lord. Why didn't you say that sooner and spared us the broken biscuits. Why say five words when you can say five hundred.

Maybe if you didn't employ complete thugs we wouldn't need a strong referee. Just a thought, but maybe pinning the arms of our captain with two players whilst a third punched him repeatedly in the face isn't the sort of thing we want to see on a rugby field.

But it was Widnes that employed big Barrie that year , he really thought he could come down into the NL's and bully everybody , but he couldn't
The second part was just some retaliation after the 1 st bit

SOMEBODY SAID that it couldn’t be done But he with a chuckle replied That “maybe it couldn’t,” but he would be one Who wouldn’t say so till he’d tried. So he buckled right in with the trace of a grin On his face. If he worried he hid it. He started to sing as he tackled the thing That couldn’t be done, and he did it!
