For me, Noble was the right man to get us out of a hole at the time, however it's clear from his time at Bradford, GB and at Wigan that whilst he's not a bad motivator, he's lousy tactically.

MAybe rather than replacing him, what we really need is an attack coach to work alongside him. I'm not suggesting a Clarke & McInnes scenario, as there's too much scope for egos, however am attack minded 'right hand man' for Noble would probably be the most sensible option. Then again, it depends on how high and mighty Noble's attitude is, and whether he would wear such a situation.

As an aside - and I know he's not available right now, but then again neither was Noble when we took him on. I reckon coaches don't come much better than John Kear. He led Sheffield to their win over us at Wembley, was Stuart Raper's right hand man when we were written off at Murrayfield and came out victorious, and he led unfancied Hull to a good win over Leeds in the Challenge cup final. Look also what he's doing at Wakey.

I'd seriously look at him before looking at these fancy Aussies everyone's on about.

Kear would i feel have been Wigan coach by now had he not been forced out under a cloud, this is also the reason i do not expect him to be interested in the future. I would love him to have a crack but cannot see it.

Unofficially the most boring poster on Cherry and White.

I'm not sure if Kear is the type of coach who can keep a top side consistantly within the top 3/4 positions.

Being fair to him, he's only coached what would be considered 'lower' sides. Everyone one of them though, have punched above their weight when he's been there. There are no superstars in Kear's sides.

I get the impression he's a good man manager, a great motivator and he has an ability to get teams playing as a unit. I also get the impression he's very well respected by absolutely everyone.

One thing i notice about kear, he is one of the most animated coaches during a game, he is very passionate about what he does.

I'd still question his ability to coach a big club with big expectations.

He did well at Sheffield and Wakefield but got sacked from Hull despite winning the Challenge Cup. His best qualities seem to be fighting relegation, winning one off & important games opposed to consistant, positive results which basically what we're after.

So was Alex Murphy, and look where that got him

It's one of the reasons I like Kear, to be honest. I get the impression with Noble that he tries to keep his players 'happy'. I can't imagine Noble giving his players a bollocking, for instance. On the League Of Their Own DVD, we lost the Tri Nations final in a pathetic performance, and all he can say is "I'm very very proud of you".
