I think if it wasn't for the current financial climate then sponsors would more readily part with cash knowing they are going to get the exposure of Super League for the full 3 years at least. As it is I think most are struggling and that's not just in rugby league circles obviously. Sponsorship is a luxury for many companies and one which a lot in the current climate cannot afford.

Obviously the opposite could be true as Fax, Leigh, Widnes etc could get a sponsor on board by offering the Super League carrot in the second or third year of sponsorship but now don't have this to offer.

A lot has been made worse by the current financial climate and all will find it more difficult than they thought they would have even the Super League clubs.

wondered myself

Do a systematic review, or a meta analysis if you can be arsed, of literature that's already available. There's a fair bit.

Research Aims and Objectives (modified)

Objective (i) – Differentiate the short term and long term effects/changes upon sponsorship that the licensing system may have.

Objective (ii) – To investigate what sponsors look for and expect as a result of employing sponsorship (specifically within Rugby League).

Objective (ii) – Look into what the franchise/licensing system can do for the future of Rugby League.

Have you tried going direct to SL clubs marketing departments? You might not get much in the way of solid facts and figures but I'm doing my dissertation at the minute and have found as long as you explain you're a student and not from a rival business or anything they tend to be pretty forthcoming.

I seem to be permanently injured, if that's of any help?
