You're clearly not very bright so I will do you the good grace of accepting your obvious racism is not malicious and probably borne out of ignorance.

those americans cant even spell the word.

i assume you wernt around in those days?????
well i was.....and i went to a few civil rights meetings over here at the time........so calling me racist is deeply offensive to a guy who stood up for the abolition of segregation.

im familiar with those days and i hope they never return.
who started the protest? the lady who refused to sit at the back of the bus? rosa parkes?
i somehow think being refered to as coloured was something the negros didnt find offensive, they got called much worse than that.

its the PC brigade of today who made the word offensive, and a majority of dark skinned folk dont mind the word.

i agree with outlawing some words that describe black (can i say that?) skinned people, but not coloured.
coloured covers the entire population of the world.....we are all coloured, some brown, some white, some yellow, some black.....so hows it offensive?

"PC Brigade" is the last refuge of those who long for the days when you could use a variety of terms I won't post on here but prefix it with "No offence mate", as if that made it alright. Jim Davidson and his hilarious invention "Chalky" might be what makes you giggle, but the nasty PC Brigade put a stop to all that.

For your information (and f*** you seem to need some input from somewhere), "Coloured" was an official term used in Apartheid South Africa. It described anyone who was mixed race or of Asian ethnic descent (and maybe a few others I can't recall), as opposed to Black and White. It signified someone with less rights than a White.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coloured

The word when applied to a human being been used in the context of a put-down -to imply someone is lower than a white, hence it's offensive. PC brigade or not you could respect this.

south africa was different to america.

whites ruled and everyone else was inferior.

but they still called blacks black, more so in rhodesia (zimbabwe)
remember smiths ? speech.........."there will be no BLACK majority rule in my lifetime"
BLACK he sais, not coloured, ....now that is offensive.

going this time

Not that I would question your abilities to speak for all "Coloureds" but what about Toyin Agbetu who does find the term offensive?

I wasn't around in the days of segregation but I have enough nous to appreciate why a term you bandy about so freely and vehemently defend would be offensive to anyone who was around and was the victim of it. Can you not see the racist connotations in the word from the images I have provided?

Are you really that stupid?

Shouldn't the offended decide what's offensive, not the offender?
