Seems to me that we need one body running this and that it would be best to bring Junior rugby in line with our professional game - i.e. summer, when the skills are easier to teach / practice / carry out?
training in the winter for most junior teams is a nightmare no facilities, no lights in most places mud baths of fields and unmotivated players. move the junior game to summer. get away from the jobs for the boys. assess coaches at clubs when theyve passed their badges not just the 15 minutes to pass the course.not every junior can play sl but some can be good nl 1 or 2 players or play a good open age standard. weve got more people playing the game than ever before so its popularity is growing so why is the top level going backwards. coaching plain and simple

It’s hardly an alarming rate of players that are going to union is it?
Let Lee Smith go if he wants, but I think he will stay at Leeds. Even if he does go it's not like he leaves a massive gap or anything to fill in the England squad.

Cracking post and absolutely right; however, more than a few people on this board, and others, need to lose the 'I'm alright Jack, eff you' attitude if RL is to consolidate its current position and grow again in the future.
The salary cap makes sense but not in it's current guise; it needs a review with the facility to reward clubs who grow their merchandising and fanbase, those that easily exceed development requirements etc. We all want a level playing field but it needs to be one that promotes organic growth.

Spot on. How we still have winter rugby league is beyond me, it really is. Wouldn't more kids want to give it a go and stick at it if they played in warm weather rather than rolling around in cold, freezing mud? I know I would have! Who coaches the coaches?

It's not an alarming rate of players going to union, it's not like if Smith goes then RL will be in the poop is it. If it bothers you then fair enough, but because it does not bother some people you don't have the right to say we are wrong.
Simply because the players crossing over are not first team regullars, it does not mean the players are not going over at an allarming rate.
You would be stunned to see the number of union coaches all over our grass routes games on a weekend.

Wigan are not winning anymore for a number of reasons mostly internal poor management, this debate has nothing to do with that still you seem able to switch stances to suit you claiming what you like and trying somehow to link Wigans failures into this for some reason, when we are talking about a Leeds player who i do not want to see go to Union, yet most on here seem happy to let him go as it makes Wakefield relativley more competative.
john don't give a damn about leeds or smith. the salary cap is doing a great job levelling the playing field for all. i am sure some of the richer clubs would like to get shut of it for their own ends p.s sick to death of watching leeds on tv
