I lied, I actually lost a lot of sleep over this, pouring over TV footage and scouring the interweb for more evidence to back up my opinion.

I still think it was a fair try....just about.

There was a still frame on Sky Sports News from Sunday night with Martin Offiah where you could see the ball carrying arm down, Hicks' right hand on the ground.... then a tiny strip of grass..... then the dead ball line.

I'll concede the bounce theory may have to go out the window though. There was a bounce but perhaps after the shot we've seen on here.

I'm sure the next frame will show the ball down and Hicks' hand/arm on the line but that'll be a split second after the touchdown, IMO.
