I think Lowes was a crap appointment anyway.

He was a good strong hooker whilst playing, who ran on fire and brimstone, but you'd hardly call him a scholar of the game. His early years, when he was at Leeds for example, were characterised mainly by fighting, and even while he was at Bradford, I rarely saw an interview with him when he didn't come over as being pretty thick. Eddie and Stevo loved him too, which is sure sign that he was intellectually challenged.

Even now, rumours are rife that he's been losing it on the touchline and offering fans out. What an inspirational figure - not.

It is Tony Smith!

On the other subject I Suspect it will be Schofield!
After being in the company of both of them at Mike Greg's funeral and watching their Awful behaviour that day they do appear to be "Thick as Thieves" and Schofield will fit in with Gouldings Personality.

Lowes was a truly awful appointment

Wire seem happy to splash the cash on assembling an expensive squad, but seem to scrimp on possibly the most important position of head coach.

If Tony Smith does come in there is a chance they may actually start to look like a decent outfit for once.

Noble to GB full time at the end of season?

Having worked with Lowes and seen how he operates he will i think one day make a good coach if he could control his ego which does in my opinion hold him back, but this appointment came far far too early for him.

The potential is there and he is very well schooled in the game, but he lacks the temprement and the man management skills to lead a club at the moment. He is i posted on the Bradford legacy thread surrounds himself with mates rather than quality people.

He is a dynamo behind the scence and he wants a hand in every aspect of the team, his personality is so large he wants to be seen to lead every aspect of the coaching even if he is not qualified to. If he stood back and concentrated his efforts into his coaching rather than spreading himself too thinly and basically hindering the other coaches then i am sure he would get along much better.

He is in my opinion too keen to control rather than lead, if he can address this issue then i think he may well suprise a few people, if he cannot and does not learn under whoever comes in he is another young English coach destined to vanish from the game. I personally do not think he will like being undermined his ego will not stand it and he will walk or will be a disruptive force at Wire until they either sack him altogether or allow his contract to run out, which i think is at the end of the year.

Unofficially the most boring poster on Cherry and White.

having seen the mention of les boyd, i thought i'd see what wikipedia had to say about him , and amongst other things it said

Quote:In 2000 he was awarded the Australian Sports Medal for his contribution to Australia's international standing in rugby league.

Exactly. The man was a good hooker, but beyond that, he certainly lacks any class.
